Could have been 50k, you cannie start of a precedent, you have rules you stick to them..
this is why bookies have rules set out,so that if genuine errors occur they can be rectified..
Having said that all punters have rights and have the option of the gambling boards to fall back on if they feel they have a case.

In principle, it does not sound right. But, if it's covered in their terms and conditions and if we agree to it (which we all have to do to register), then it's just.
I guess all businesses have to have these Ts & Cs to protect themselves from these sort of situations.
The problem with the consumer is that we don't take the time to read and understand them.

@ hibernia --- But it wasn't 50k was it ? It was pennies !!The fact of the matter is
'' THEY made the mistake, offered the price, accepted the bet, paid the guy out and
then changed their minds, reclaiming part of the pay-out quoting '' RULES'' ha ha what
a joke. Fact of the matter is, they are not a bookmakers arse, I don't think there are
any actual bookmakers left. Firms of accountants yes, certainly, but actual bookmakers
able to consider customer goodwill and a bit of the personal touch ?? Forget it !! That's
my opinion anyway. No doubt there will be many who disagree but that is also their
prerogative.

Chris the amount has nothing to do with it, you reckon they are worried about money ?
What about the other Hollywood thread today when they paid out extra?
Rules are there for a reason , it wasn't a clerk writing a price on a slip then refusing to pay, it was a software malfunction out of their hands

Other than Zuma, who's not worried about money ?? All I am saying is
why not leave a good taste in the clients mouth. There is far more milage
in that for ones business. Anyway Bob, lets agree to disagree on this. (tu)

Hollywood are fully within their rights to amend the bet
BUT
The issue becomes confusing with horseracing. Hollywood ,as stated by them on this site, have independent prices with horseracing. So when is a mistake a mistake ?

Most definitely not. The advertised price is only an invitation for you to make an offer and then when the seller accepts your offer only then will a contract or agreement be created.
If Pick 'n Pay mistakenly advertises R5 for a loaf of bread they are quite entitled to reject your offer of the R5 and quite rightly so...

What if you wagered a large bet, for instance to win R10 000 and Man City was the last leg of a multiple and only Man City had to win for you. So when Man City was up 2-1 you decided to cover your all outcomes and wagered bets on the draw and Everton to win so on any result you will have been a profitable winner. Will the bookmaker cover the losses of your cover bets has these bets was struck, knowing that you had R10 000 to win and not the revised price, as this will seriously have affected your profit ratio.

I think that if a bet is not rectified before the "off" then it stands

What happens if a horse gets claimed from 4/1 to 5/2 and the bookie still shows 4/1, will that be corrected later or will the price stand. I have often seen claimed horses not shortened by bookies for a while after the claim.

the problem i have with this is if Hollywood can so easily rectify there mistake after the bet has run its course, why then is it so difficult when we make a mistake for them to sort it out before either the 1st leg of the beg starts or the race starts? if the price was changed Lotters should have been notified so if he wanted to increase his stakes he could of. I don't know if i am the only person that has made mistakes taking bets using my cell phone internet, but not once did Hollywood let me change them.
yes i know there's Ts & Cs and fine print etc, but Hollywood needs to be fair and consistent, think about the customers aswell, it doesn't matter if they bet R10 or 10k, a customer is still important
Lotters as Agra has pointed out Playabets is a good choice, they have really nice markets as well
