The unilateral "mistake" rule is ludicrous (not just a Hollywood thing)

In theory ,it means I can ask a question ,get an answer ,bet accordingly and then be told it was a mistake..................it actually means that nothing you read on any bookie site can be trusted..................it might be a mistake!!

Another strong case for betting exchanges................no bullsh!t like that if you lay,or take, a bet there!

I AM GLAD YOU BROUGHT THIS UP. I HOPE DEV READS THIS AS WELL

The above situation has happened to me many times. The Hollywood website for sports betting (especially soccer) is NOT user friendly. It is very easy to take the wrong bets when the same team is playing a days apart.

I personally think that there needs to be one more MAIN filter for the "dropbox" and that must be for the DATE.
Very often when punters take multiple soccer bets it is for a particular day (date).

@agra - we are hoping to have our website redesigned in the near future. We will take these points into account. The date of every game you select is clearly indicated on the screen as well as on your bet slip when striking your bet.

@simms - we will always try do whats fair. If you ever find yourself in a case where you have been treated unfairly, you are welcome to contact me directly. All our customers are important, and as can be seen by all the posts on ABC, we reply and investigate all of them.

@racingguru - its up to you the client to check your ticket before submitting your bet. If you strike your bet on the website, you should also receive an email confirmation. This is so you can check your bets and make us aware timeously if there is an error. If the first leg of the ticket has started, then we cannot cancel the bet, as we cannot relay the bet with the first game.

chrism, I've got to agree with you 100 %

all this uproar & bad vibes against HOLLYWOOD over a few pennies. The bet was small, they should have just paid out & be finished with.
If a shop assistant pays me 0,10 c short, i wouldn't say a thing....... pay me R 20.00 short out of R 100, i will say something.

why worry about the small shit....... life's too short. True there are no bookmakers anymore, only accountants, boring accountants.

Trust me Elvis, the money is not the issue. It's the principle. As Hibs mentioned earlier, we cannot set a precedent.

Thanks alot .
What you say is true, but by just adding one more filter, it will make placing bets easier.

Bit of a win won from the bookie side... Customer must check their ticket and ensure that they have placed their bet correctly and cannot have it changed after 1 leg of the bet has started, but the bookmaker has the right to change the price after the fact?

I have had this exact situation with a different bookmaker where i got 25-1 on Arsenal to win instead of 2.5-1. They voided the bets before the kick off. Had the game kicked off i would played in play to cover my bets and ensure that i ran a profit. I can almost guarantee you that NO bookmaker would refund me my losing bets in this situation.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

Honestly last year, I took an in running bet when Liverpool scored against Chelsea. They were laying 6/1 or thereabouts for the Liverpool win. I thereafter proceeded to take a draw bet in running the odds were like 3/1. After Hollywood rectified the price of Liverpool to the correct odds, I then notified them that the draw bet was taken cos of the Liverpool price I had initially taken. They cancelled my draw bet, paid me out at the correct Liverpool odds and gave me a R2000 voucher. And that's a true story, no lies. I did open a thread last year when they did that, so you can verify it, if you search for it.

Agreed that it is an invitation to make an offer...Punter made offer and this was accepted when bet was accepted and paid for therefore contract concluded and no notification to punter of change to correct price...unilateral action to amend error after the event rather than before...

And guys easy on the digs at accountants...I'm an accountant...:)
