Not really...... think he is versatile.....but he got into a lot of trouble in CT while in the pack and slow paced racing got bumped and bored in several races....this horse has been a fav of mine for a long time....did calculate that he may need the run as a prep for something bigger...
but only the mare seemed to be the other trier in the race.....:

.....Joey Ramsden cracked an invite to Royal Ascot yesterday.....it was all left for the jock to add the finishing touches.....top owners in Joey's yard with all the faith in Joey even when deputizing.....he may not be back today....so why don't you lay Kingvolt if you think the trainer has to be on the course to crack another big one.....:S

No bad intentions or aspersions on trainer (not aware he was overseas) or owners so lay off the drivel

I was NOT worried about the favourite but included it in the P6.
My big play was Beach Beauty.
I that won i catch the P6 even if it was only 10%

That's the problem with big race meetings, I for one tend to gloss over a race on the assumption the horse with the big reputation will win the race, so when the bomb drops, it's the dumbfounded feeling - the "how could that win", even page through the race again just to make certain it was carded. Yet, time permitting, if we went through the card, we'd also find one or two of those bombs - I just get mentally tired and say to hell with it, I've either made some money or I'm clean out at the latter stages of a meeting.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Well, the Winning Form did warn us "... upon closer inspection it becomes evident that there could be a serious lack of a solid gallop that could harm the chances of a few top sorts". And as for King Of Pain "Blinkers made a big difference last time, slow pace won't be an issue...". King of Pain was also coming from a 16 week rest. Blinkers and rest, imo, are variables for a horse to run handy or set the pace.

Imvho I also believe that blinkers make no difference to this horse as I watched all of his runs to see how he travels.....he is not an easy ride and needs to be worked on throughout the race.....on Saturday he had to be bustled and worked on to stay up front even at a crawl....
a great ride from a hard working jock finally paid off.....even if the majority of the field seemed to be saving something for another day....:
I know this was discussed under another thread.....but it will be interesting to see how the handicappers review this race and what KOP gets for beating some of his better rivals....:S
