Lagin I think was Johnny Nick's. Kwiktan did win a race by 14 lengths and they could not pull him up after the race! Don't know how long he survived for after that run. Not sure if it was the Skeaping.

Dave, there is a lovely chapter on Jean Heming in Legends of the Turf. A good read.

Craig it was the SA Derby, and Pedometer won the Sun International by 14 lengths too. Roland's Song another great one she trained.

besides missing the skeaping and champion stakes wfa another meeting which I badly miss was the sa invitation stakes race day at scotsville where the day was an interprovincial raceday with 4 jockeys each from Gauteng natal and cape town competing in their respective provincial colours

Pirates, I am sure they could do that again. I also enjoyed that meeting. I will ask them. Maybe a Friday night meeting on the Poly. I am sure it would attract a big/bigger crowd. :)

why should a trainer change his methods of training if the horse cost 5000 rand or 5 million rand?
