RG talking about what happened in a private phone call on a public forum is out of order

Louis,

Seeing as though you are an expert trainer, handicapper, punter and Dale Carnegie course graduate, maybe you can answer the question I asked a few times :

Would Marcus Jooste want the information on his runners to be completely transparent for the public or not ?

While you're answering that : Did the jockey admit on TV he downplayed the strength of the horse so Mr Brugman could have a punt ?

Also : How big is a claim on a first timer ? (seeing as though you are telling us to follow the claims)

As a betting man I'm willing to believe you were a bully in school. If not, you have certainly become one in your twilight years.

bob..your point is taken

but i would not have brought the issue up,had this thread not emerged, and the irony is that of all the trainers that could have responded, louis goosen had to...and this so soon as my episode with the very same person....like pirates said the sooner that these sort of people with these sort of mentalities come to realise that this game is about turnover and not taking people out the game...this will be the games saviour...the well is not bottomless
...so for turnover to be generated u need winners being spread around ...if i had a tote ...and a punter took the last R50.00 he had .....would i want him to have a winner or back a loser and go home...when these people answer me that question and realise the bigger picture, then racing will survive

pirates wrote: ffs steve haven't you been reading this thread ..they have told you what they want for example Bayern Englander etc ..they not asking for tips they want to know the wellbeing ,,they don't know if a horse has had an interrupted prep they don't know if a horse hasn't been in work and will need a run and is looking at a feature in 2 weeks ..not everyone is clued up like you steve..

Pirates,Engles and Bayern,it would be grand if you could know the wellbeing of every horse.
But I can't see that happening, for instance today there is nearly 100 runners at Fairview.
Who and how do you suggest they get the info about each horses well being and targets?
Race 1 for example, there are 15 runners.Do you ask the top 5 in the betting and leave the bigger priced ones,no good for the guys who like a roughie or idiot bet and what about if trainer is a bit late to track

Also and I know from experience,a horse runs way above expectations and way below when your least expecting it.
Shame they can't talk.

dtf we accept for racemeetings a good 5 days before it takes place ..the bulk of horses are trained at training centres such as Fairview randjiesfontein summerveld asburton vaal milnerton philipi etc..if a journalist or tv presenter cannot make the effort to either visit the centre or use these modern day communication methods such as a telephone sms email fax twitter etc then they shouldn't have a job..Nadine rapson in pe is a shining example she visits Fairview which is the only training centre in pe and gets comments from all the trainers ..THERE ARE NO EXCUSES IN THIS COUNTRY FROM A TIME AND LOGISTICS POINT OF VIEW..it is damn right fcuking laziness from the journalists and from THE fcuking operators

Watching the morning show re pe racing Nadine Rapson had comments from trainers on at least 4 horses per race now why can't other centers do the same? It is a breath of fresh air

its is very easy for Formgrids to add a trainer comment icon on each horse if need be, the trainer logs in and types a comment, or can instruct his assistant to

we can also have a jockey post race icon, we can also add a official handicapper comment icon, anything is possible if the industry is willing

Why not have a key with a few options as to the well-being of the horse, that the trainer can tick when nominating his horses. These can then be printed on the card eg A = eating up and working well.
