Wouldn't be surprised if New Predator or My bet Captain America wins this , having no bearing on the LqP or Met
Also was hoping Red ray would defy the weight and run a big race but see he is scratched.
the lightweights Orion quest and Search party are both better than their MR so big runners but would be nice for Tevez to pull it off.
Fillies guineas - we still don't know how good some of them are but I like Sail, and hoping QBF or the Ramsden filly are special.

Both Mambo Mime and It Is Written are in the Merchants.... Both horses are obviously using a GR II for preps... their places could have been taken by sprinters.
62.3.1 The TRAINER of a HORSE shall ensure that such HORSE does not run in an inconsistent
manner (also referred to as "reversal of form" or "in and out running"). Where inconsistent
running has or may have occurred, an investigation into such matter may be held in terms
of the RULES.
Bear in mind many punters only have newspaper form and when they next see these two run over ground the prep runs will just confuse them. You cannot in any world say that these two will be running on Merit... If I were a stipe I would scratch them both to protect punters...

It seems obvious that the horses mentioned are having preps but horses like, Wainui, Global News, Floatyourboat and Kapil have won this race before before competing in other longer distances during the Cape season.

That may well be true ... but neither of these 2 ever won over 1200m...they both achieved their ratings over further.... It is Written is now 6... I'm not saying they cant win or place(I recall I think Al Nitak I think was going 1800m + until Buddy taught him to sprint) but what I am saying on plain evidence this seems like prep for Queens Plate or Met etc... Many coups(or sudden form return) has happened in the reverse where sprinters get taken over mile + trips for a few runs then back to sprints they grow legs... I just think that there is more evidence that both need an extra 200m minimum to be competitive..Kapil won a few over 1200m before trying ground ... I know top horses can sprint and stay but with respect these 2 have at best been in the low hundreds. Both these are coming back after seasonal rests also.

9/1 abt NP was being charitable imo - more realistic price now
At 8/1 Captain America looks the value this morning
In the Fillies Guineas, I think Maleficent is big value at current odds - holds the Falcon easily on KZN form - and She's a Giver (put of a Var mare) has stamina doubts and a wide draw - the Fox is unproven over the distance and up in class - imo Safe Harbour the danger

Betting for the Merchants is interesting or peculiar for that matter following the scratchings. Real Princess is the revised 5/1 favourite, Hack Green 7/1 and Search Party 15/2, second and third respectively in the market. Last time out Real Princess carried 59.0kgs, and finished second to Search Party who carried 57.0kgs with Hack Green finishing 10th carrying 57.0kgs as well. Tomorrow Real Princess carries 57.5, Hack Green 52.0kgs and Search Party 52.0kgs. I know which horse will not be getting my money.
Wish Hollywood would open their full card betting, fields loaded since yesterday.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
