Based on the ratings, Ovidio looks (to me), to be the best bet on this card. Has the entire field cold at the weights, whilst Helderberg Blue is next best in, he has forgotten where the winning post is.
Ovidio at 4/1 is very charitable.

Decided on the double, Horizon X Ovidio.
Looking at the Derby, it is interesting to note that none of the first 5 in the betting have been the distance. Whilst Table Bay is the highest rated horse in the race, that rating was achieved over distances up to 1500m. Going to take a stand and say his style of running would suggest he would be very competitive up to 1600m, and slightly less beyond.
On exposed form I think Edict Of Nantes will finish ahead of Table Bay, however it would be interesting to know whether Marcus had first pick (of rides) on the 3 Mayfair Speculators horses.
Assuming the above is correct, then he must feel that Newlands cannot beat Horizon. I do feel that Newlands will finish ahead of the other Mayfair owned horses.
Horizon on the other hand, this horse is improving with every run and should appreciate the extra. He quicken effortlessly last time out, so from draw 1, irrespective of the pace, he will fetch the front runners.

Race 3 is the Kuda Sprint for juveniles over 1200m for a million rand. What are the conditions of entry for this race?
