As with the July and Summer Cup, no one gives The Conglomerate a mention. Whoever beats him will win the Met.

Just a heads up for you guys.
Sgt Hardy now 16/10 @ WSB but still 22/10 @ Hollywood.
William Longsword now 12/10 @ WSB but 18/10 @ Hollywood.
Ovidio(thanks to Bayern for pointing this one out - looks a penalty kick if repeating that last run) now 16/10 @ WSB but still 28/10 @ Hollywood.
Be quick to get those better prices @ this stage. My write-ups later in the week.

Some "easier" races and some very tough ones will make it a challenging day for punters and to throw a further spanner in the works, the weather predictions from Friday to Sunday is for a very strong southeaster to be blowing up the straight.
If the Cape Doctor gets going then you may as well hypothetically, add an additional furlong to the races around the turn and the sprints at least another 100m :woohoo:
This may of course mean that the dreaded "Cape crawl" will come into play around the turn or that horses with stamina limitations will be found out in true run races.
It's going to be a lot of fun in the earlier races and especially the Kuda sprint...

I have maintained for some time that only 2 horses can win the Met - and I stick to that - the only possible fly in the ointment is maybe Whisky Baron - not sure if he has improved enough to trouble the other two (and his last run suggests to me he has not); on exposed form I can't have Gold Standard - imo he won't find a place; can't have The Conglomerate or Bela Bela at these weights; the one that could sneak into the quartet at long odds imo is Mac de Lago - may need another run, but well weighted on his July effort

Ovidio at the weights with Helderberg Blue the one to challenge?
William Longsword looks hard to beat but likes to get to the front early..Marcus is the best so he'll probably know that the Southeaster needs to be respected...

I think that Sail could be a really nice each way bet.

Guys I have looked at the Investec Derby and I cannot have Horizon. His form lines look weak.

In Race 1 Ribovar is the dark horse.

Rodney is the right one in the 1st race. Quite a big jump in class for Ribovar, wait until race time to back this one, you may get 16/1 or better.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
