....dont think it was there on the weekend before the sales..I was actually told on the Sunday by an ex-TBA staffer that the tote would not be operational because of licencing issues ..also having these outside concession refreshment stands coffee wagon and pastry table may be a nice touch when the weather is fine....but the cold front moving up through Gauteng over the weekend is going to spoil that.... just hope that warm refreshments will be available in the complex and near to some TV .'s so that one can catch some racing between bouts at the horse boxes....

I see the BSA are sending out Euinehub emails today...
Are they wanting us to not buy this week at the sales?
Very strange imo!

....how else are EquiHub going to get "stock"....they still want current racing people , owners , trainers and syndicates to buy horses and then offer partial or full purchase of shares in them through the system...and not the conventional syndicate where you get rolling bones or greed road to pick horses and then offer them or get their normal client mates involved.....

....went to sales to check out a few on my rather short list.....the venue was rather quiet again but still had the regular fewer die hard trainers pulling horses from boxes.....of particular interest for me was a mating that is way out of my..... and also most of even the bigger money players in our diminishing market....an Irish imported son of Rock Of Gibraltar smart looking chestnut....that stands well in his box....but seems to have the looks of a much younger horse and is pretty playful....did not want to pull him from the box as seems to then want switch into a highly inquisitive mode and not a walker but would rather try to run....besides don't want to get his and my hopes up....and he may still need plenty more time to grow up.....his dam has been sent to imo an array of mismatched sires that have produced winners but nothing with any fire works.....in fact I saw his youngest sibling run on the weekend....a rather poor showing....what is of particular interest is this un-named colt .... now has the same genetic cross of the dam of Rubick a 1st season sire in Ozz that is from the same family as Redoudes Choice, Manhattan Rain and a host of other decent track performers....later I had a chat with David Raphael who initially purchased Rubick and retained shares in this now stallion....He told me that although Rock Of Gibraltar was dark bay....he has typically sired some flashy chestnuts...as in the case of the dam of Rubick....named Sliding Cube a 3parts sibling to Redoubts Choice....

.....yes most Stallions/Sires start to lose their shine when the next boom boys are marketed to the rather fickle racing folk....case in point look at Black Minnaloushe here....at one time his offspring was in serious demand and fetched decent prices yet you cannot market them now....not plugging for Heversham here..... but they have a BM filly that imo has the correct Storm Cat X P cross from an aged dam that is no more.....one that if mated correctly would throw something above average
.....and I'm not really a BM fan.....but this is going to be value....
....getting back to the son of the Rock they are pretty scarce here....but a dime a dozen in UK and Ireland....and not really mated with precision...I bet this local fella did not cost much there either.....but he has imo untapped potential in his pedigree....
.....and I'm not really a BM fan.....but this is going to be value....

.....not another plug for Heversham....although they do need it.... as many pooh pooh them for being in a very unfashionable neck of the woods and in the past have never marketed themselves properly....I saw their stallion day flighted on TT and was really impressed....and while cooing over the Chestnut Rock...some one asked them to pull out their colt by Querari....but before he came out we were told that he is a Ferrari....got a commentary of how he would exit.... and what he would display....I cautioned and said be careful these youngsters can be unpredictable and contrary to what you say....he bolted out ...proud as can be... just as we'd been told he would be....he strode like a dressage champion and had that look of a speed machine....and that eye of eagles ....I have hardly ever seen....was told the only problem was to get him back in the box....because all he wants to do is prance and show off his good looks.....
