6 years 10 months ago.....did not even fetch a rather low reserve of R100K..... :blink:Muhtiman wrote: ....went to sales to check out a few on my rather short list.....the venue was rather quiet again but still had the regular fewer die hard trainers pulling horses from boxes.....of particular interest for me was a mating that is way out of my..... and also most of even the bigger money players in our diminishing market....an Irish imported son of Rock Of Gibraltar smart looking chestnut....that stands well in his box....but seems to have the looks of a much younger horse and is pretty playful....did not want to pull him from the box as seems to then want switch into a highly inquisitive mode and not a walker but would rather try to run....besides don't want to get his and my hopes up....and he may still need plenty more time to grow up.....his dam has been sent to imo an array of mismatched sires that have produced winners but nothing with any fire works.....in fact I saw his youngest sibling run on the weekend....a rather poor showing....what is of particular interest is this un-named colt .... now has the same genetic cross of the dam of Rubick a 1st season sire in Ozz that is from the same family as Redoudes Choice, Manhattan Rain and a host of other decent track performers....later I had a chat with David Raphael who initially purchased Rubick and retained shares in this now stallion....He told me that although Rock Of Gibraltar was dark bay....he has typically sired some flashy chestnuts...as in the case of the dam of Rubick....named Sliding Cube a 3parts sibling to Redoubts Choice....

The Querari's are a hot item due to some real crackers very early in his crops so far....this boy may not have been in my sights ...but seeing him tells me a different story.....
....this oke has finally won a race....so much for being forward....his keep was steep....only debuted as a 4yr old and seems to have gone backwards.....He was named well as he looked like The Lord Of The Manor...thank the lord he won....would not have liked to have used this name as an email address like the only horse I picked to never win a race....

.....so at this next sale one can buy a horse or few.....and race for decent stakes by 2022....the keep in the meantime will only be R250K+ per horse ......my Finance Minister may not grasp this concept and soon will lose interest ......

A few has caught my eye (but also dependent on my FM) - do you know if the BSA Incentives (Added Stakes) are still in place - probably covered in the hard copy catalogue - but as yet I have only seen the entries on-line; might be better to 'invest' at the CTS Ready to Run - but the catalogue not really up my ally - except for one or two ...

....not that I have already put the boot in to the CTS outfit......but their upcoming sale is most confusing as it is labeled as RTR but on the sale are also unbroken 2yr olds and raced horses all mixed in to the catalog .....

Correct - and apart from going through the list of Vendors, I don't see anything on the catalogue page to show whether the lot is ready-to-run, or unbroken - and whether it qualifies for the 'bonus' race - so very confusing indeed

....then even more confusing is that it is advertised as an online sale..... but then have 2 separate Cape venues to see horses run before the sale....and the one day is awfully close to a BSA sales day......:S

A ‘tick of the box’ by the buyer will mean that the individual purchase could qualify for two R400 000 races – that’s R800 000 in total on offer in KwaZulu-Natal at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Vodacom Durban July Day 2021, and then just over a month later at Turffontein.
This innovative and rewarding Sales Race programme is offered in addition to the usual Added Stakes Incentive.
The four Bloodstock South Africa Emperors Palace National 2yo Sale linked races are:
Sales Race (1) run over 1300m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on 3 July 2021 – Fillies only
Sales Race (2) run over 1300m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on 3 July 2021 – Colts/geldings only
Sales Race (3) run over 1400m at Turffontein on 7 August 2021 – Fillies only
Sales Race (4) run over 1400m at Turffontein on 7 August 2021 – Colts/geldings only

I assume this relates to the BSA sale - So how much does the 'tick in the box' cost the buyer ?

......does it really matter....with another big buyer out .....and the way the game is going.....discounts galore......but the keep is still steep.....and not the price of the lotto ticket for a crack at a R400K baby race.....
