Not unusual Lionel. from identification to dying often in the region of 16 - 21 days .... Deaths are a lagging indicator in this horrible game.

We have 5000 identified cases so AT LEAST another 75 - 125 of those will be fatalities unfortunately.

Extrapolating from 140000 tested persons of which 5000 were positive ( I am using round numbers as is easier ) ... around 2.8% ... so it is almost logical to say that 2.8% of the population have been exposed to Covid19. which equates to about 1 260 000 (1.26 million) ... of which we could very well lose up to 5% of those which is around 63000 people.

Is a simplistic way of looking at it...... and I pray I am very very wrong

@Magi, your extrapolation would be correct, assuming all things being equal. Howevwr, What we know about the affects of the virus though is that it affects some groups more. So, we need to know the profile of the 140k, 5k and that of those who succumb to it.

Mac, this is such an invasion of ones privacy . I would never put that app on my phone. Under whqt circumstances are you 15 minutes with someone? Travelling 9n publ8c transport? Then you an idiot if you dont take prevention methods like social distancing, mask, sanitizer etc. Other circumstances would be friends, family, colleagues. Those you can inform the medical staff who you have been in contact with.

Guys how is it that Australia can stage 10+ race-meetings a day and we can barely stage 1 meeting.

Something has to drastically change in the way racing is run. We should move back to the club system and each province should hold races.

This improves the number of horses required, jockeys required and and the amount of stakes offered.

Nothing to do with Club System or not. Govt makes the decision.

We have applied, put in a very detailed application in fact. Racing has stayed in constant contact with Govt and have gone way above what was expected in terms of isolation etc.

We currently wait anxiously for Govt decision as to whether we can race from Friday, under closed doors. And it hangs in the balance, right now...
