The weekend’s collapse of a 54-year Syrian dictatorship has dramatically altered Middle Eastern politics – and it is now clear that South Africa’s largest political party and mobile phone operator, MTN, backed a losing horse. Iranian-born and raised Iraj Abedian provides context on the dramatic collapse of the Assad family’s Syrian dynasty, which for over a decade had been propped up by Tehran and Moscow. The changes have implications for the ANC and MTN, both of whom profited greatly from their links to the Iranian regime and its Syrian ally. Although recently MTN exited Syria, its investment into and 15-year involvement in the dictatorship is sure to carry consequences – as are its continued operations in Iran.

COVID-19: Disturbing report released by the USA
COVID-19: Disturbing report released by the USA© unsplashA total of 520 pages dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic have just been published by a special sub-committee of the US Congress led by elected Republicans. Some Democrats are also said to have taken part in the drafting process. The investigation lasted two years. And while this information was supposed to remain in the shadows, well hidden beneath the lies, it has just come to light. Le Journal de Montréal reveals some of it. Shocking revelations

- The virus was most likely the result of a laboratory accident in Wuhan, as part of US government-funded gain-of-function research. The American and Chinese governments, Dr. Fauci and members of the scientific community are said to have attempted to conceal the facts;
- The “6 feet” of social distancing, recommended by world leaders, had no scientific basis;even more disturbing, there was no scientific evidence that the masks had been effective in controlling the spread of the virus;
- The government didn't tell the whole story, and deliberately misinformed the public, labelling the laboratory accident theory as a “conspiracy theory”;
- The vaccine's effectiveness was exaggerated...
- Many other truths are highlighted in the report.

hindsight is a perfect science.
there had to be a reaction governments could not stand by and let millions more die.
could have would have should have.
if my auntie had balls she would be my fucking uncle

5 months 3 weeks agoI also now believe that we have been duped - the effectiveness of the Phizer vaccine for one was highly exaggerated, while the side effects were largely ignored - one more thing to blame the government of the dayCOVID-19: Disturbing report released by the USA

As the 520-page report points out, “trust has to be earned. Accountability, transparency, honesty and integrity will help regain that trust”, reports the Journal de Montréal. i see according to sky news horses in mongolia are testing positive for birdflu. h5N1. apparently symptom free, but worry is this virus is spreading to a lot of animals and has already jumped to humans. if this kicks off wonder what the loony antivaccer conspiracy lot will say then

wonder how the trump brigade are feeling now. i get people were sick of the status quo and wanted change but this level of disruption is beginning to look like change for the sake of it. i cant see any logic or sensibility in what he is doing. take the aid issue. surely it would have been more sensible to undertake a review before summarily suspending everything ?

well the chickens are coming home to roost.
amidst all the noise about trump let us remember the following.
firstly expropriation without compensation has been passed therefore any land can be legally siezed. of course it hasnt happened. yet. what if this gnu fails in two years and is replaced by an anc mk eff coalition ? will no land be siezed then ?
then we have the icj. the anc have single handedly shut it down, firstly by zuma refusing to execute the arrest warrant against al bashir thereby making an icj warrant not worth the paper it is written on and then by securing a warrant against netenyahu which no western country will execute therefore making it worthless by forcing trumps hand ( not arresting bibi when he visited) and essentially leaving trump no option but tom withdraw thereby rendering the icj a lame duck. this flabbergasts me as in the space of 10 years the anc go from ignoring the icj to then running to it to obtain a ruling. how does that work ? well i suppose typical anc. ignore the ref when he blows against and run to him for protection when you feel like it.
secondly we have usaid and agoa. well ramaphosa has been peddling the global south agenda for ages which actually is a softer way of pushing brics. so he has come down four square behind russia china iran and palestine, at every opportunity - ukraine war gaza new brics currency against the usd you name it in direct opposition to any usa position. who can then be surprised when trump then says well if you are going to attack the us on every point then we will pull aid and agoa.
the most recent figures i have which stand open to correction
sa exports 50 times more to us and 150 times more to eu than to russia
us eu uk fdi in sa 136 bn usd
russia 5 m usd
usd 6,5 bn trade surplus with us
210 m usd trade deficit with russia
etc etc
if we do get booted from agoa the consequences to the economy will be dire.
talk about biting the hand that feeds you and killing the goose that lays the golden egg
clearly the anc believes that both internationally and internally everyone has to put up with their corruption and thievery because they are due some kind of restitution thanks to apartheid and colonialism . trump thanks to his south african advisers has clearly seen through this. clearly 30 years down the line the rest of the world has had enough. looking at the numbers of our economy from budget deficits to state debt to growth you name it rsa is in deep trouble and things are only going to get a whole lot worse
