VEE MOODLEY UPDATE
As anxiety levels for industry people increase the status quo on racing's return to operation remains the same.
NHA CEO Vee Moodley said, "We are patiently waiting like every other industry for an outcome on our submissions. The Government has made it categorically clear that their mandate for now is the preservation of human life ... the science dictates."

Vee was part of the old club at Phumulela. He is not seen as an undependent regulator by government.
You guys remember that black lady that complained about Phumulela and said that racing was not transformed, I am sure that she has friends in government that are making us sweat!!!

Very sad and frustrating, looks like racing could be the last thing on their minds

Time to revolt! The government does not care about facts. They are on a power trip. We need to show these clowns that the ppl actually have the power in this country. Hopefully i will see nominations by next Thursday, otherwise we have accepted them as our puppet masters. We really make it too easy for them to pull our strings. It is unacceptable.

We were informed that a strong case was made. Why not let the racing fraternity be the judge of that. Why was the application not made public ? It may have caught the eye of someone influential.
I know their formbook suggests they are not course and distance suited on legal battles, but why not take the govt to court if you have such a strong case.

How much Tax revenue does Racing bring to the Government dining hall ?
April was the first complete month of the hard lockdown, and, excluding 30 April, during the month Sars under-recovered R664-million on beer sales, almost R300-million on wine sales, R400-million on spirits and R400-million on cigarettes.
Now if government is prepared to lose so much on taxes by banning booze and smokes do you really think tax revenue from Racing concerns them - And consider how many people derive income from Alcohol and Cigarette sales as apposed to Racing - SAB employs directly over 6 times more people that Phumelela - And all the other breweries and wineries?
I believe that there is no real plan for Covid by Government - They are winging it just like so many other countries - They want us to wear masks because "it prevents transmission" yet the new guideline for Police says
"The directive notes that where certain conduct has not been criminalised (such as the wearing of mask or social distancing), members must sensitise ‘transgressors’ that their conduct is endangering their health and that of others;"
businesstech.co.za/news/government/40054...-not-wearing-a-mask/
So you can't get arrested for not wearing a mask but you can be for selling alcohol - Now if everyone decides not to wear a mask what will happen? I think it was Genesis and more recently the aptly named Disturbed who sang Land Of Confusion

Govt: Number 100 thousand point 2 million 769 it’s your turn now
Mr. Racing: Thank you for giving us the opportunity to apply for the resumption of Racing
Govt: How many people do you employ?
Mr. Racing: Well we actually like to look at number of people affected. It’s in the region of 65000
Govt: Ok. Why the urgency to resume this gambling thing
Mr. Racing: Well, you see … the company that runs racing has gone into business rescue
Govt: COVID19 has claimed many victims. We own SAA.
Mr. Racing: Actually like SAA this company was struggling before COVID. Fortunately Mary Oppenheimer has stepped in to save the industry
Govt: Oppenheimers. Shame. Bless them. They are also helping us
Mr. Racing: Racing needs to resume immediately. Thousands rely on our business to survive almost 75000
Govt: 75000?
Mr. Racing: Yes. You see the majority of the wonderful, brilliant grooms that take care of the race horses are from underprivileged backgrounds and have many mouths to feed.
Govt: Yes, we did see your grooms on SABC riding these horses on your racetracks. Are you aware of the COVID19 Employer/Employee Relief programme
Mr. Racing: Yes. Indeed. Many trainers have successfully applied for this
Govt: Is this not enough, how well paid are these grooms?
Mr. Racing: Er.. You see it’s not only the grooms. If racing doesn’t resume horses will be euthanized.
Govt: Euthanized? How long will it take for them to recover from this?
Mr. Racing: No. they will put down humanely by a vet
Govt: Oh goodness. Who owns these horses? How much do they cost?
Mr. Racing: Various wealthy individuals. Horse cost thousands of rands, hundreds of thousands, some millions
Govt: If these owners can afford to spend so much money on buying a horse, surely they can afford to feed them.
Mr. Racing: Unfortunately the lockdown has affected everyone big and small. We urge you to open racing as failure to do so may result in something like the holocaust for these horses.
Govt: Ok Thank you. We will attach a few of your court records supplied by the Minister of Justice to support your application.
Mr. Racing: Thank you.
Govt: Thank you. You can leave your application on the top of that pile.
Mr. Racing: Thanks. We can assure you we will not sell any cooked food or wear flip flops and t shirts at our racecourses
Govt: Not Funny….Next

If they still haven't decided on smokes and booze, read between the lines... Racing is not even a priority right now.
I also heard from a reliable source that Racing is seen purely as Gambling and Entertainment. Therefore, Government has adopted the stance of a singular approach for casinos, racing, and the likes. So when casino's are allowed to open, racing can then take place...

Govt forcing through their power with this lockdown.............laying the groundwork for new radical economic transformation / socialism.
They will not be told what to do anymore, the shoe is now on the other foot.
IMHO, they do not give a %&*^ and won't listen to suggestions / advise from competent people (Scientists / Professors etc) who know the industry inside out.
