Well done to PeterD with Fynbos - was going to back it, but then got cold feet and went the exacta route with the 2 favorites
Spot on , guineas was a false run race. Went n crawl and then sprint . If Kommetdiding was in the race he would have killed them because today was no stamina test but a test to see who can sprint 600m with the best turn of foot. First to last 7 lengths apart in a race with all carrying 60kg , not what you expect in a Gr1 3yo race.... well done to Kannemeyr stable and Behr who won his first grade 1
Well done Peter with your win also

Shame, just a quick glance and its quite clear , the winner will be knocked with 18 points to a 113 rating ...
The 7th place horse will probably get 8 points penalty
The 10th place horse will probably get 7 points penalty
And the 2nd last horse will get 3 points penalty
Thats if the "guidelines " are followed for the unexposed 3yolds .
And this all in the slowest run guineas in 15 years....

When one sees these results how can you not question racing? Adam Marcus was a bloody disgrace to racing today(I brassed the horse completely before hand) so no skin off my back but to come on air 5mins before a grade 3 race ( favorite to boot) and say what he said......F@#@#D-UP to say the least. Racing doesn't need this crap !! What an unprofessional tosser!! A five figure fine would be to little.
Are our 3 year olds so crap that a maiden with very little form wins a grade 1 like Russian Rock did or is he a very good horse? I'm gob smacked to say the least, well actually nothing in racing makes sense nowadays.

Thank you Neigh.
If you have read the entire thread, you would be aware that we became under some pressure to remove certain posts highlighting the Marcus incident.
The frustration from the punters was obvious and justified.
How many racing experts took Mississippi as a banker in exotics without this crucial information of the well being of the HOT fav?
I have also taken this matter up with the NHRA and let them be the judge.

This cape guineas was definitely one race i was looking forward to and then to see how pathetic race it unfolded to be was a huge disappointment . The winner would have run stone motherless last if they ran in the fillies guineas .... same course , same distance and same penetrometer.... thats how bad it was .... Captain's Ransom would have beaten them by almost 9 lengths if compared.... proper sectional timing needed and stipes should be notified before every race what the insructions from trainer is and intentions of the pilots and proper feedback after every race and consequences proper if not satisfied explanations. The betting public deserve much more information than they getting atm. Be open and be honest and racing will prosper when winning over punters' trust again. False races give false results, that gives false ratings and end up with false perseptions about horses. Basicly every trainer , jockey , operator and nhra official should have a good soulsearching look at oneself and ask yourself ... " Am I doing the best I can to the best of my ability to make racing prosper , be fair and how can i win back the trust of every owner and punter"

I'm not going to venture an opinion on the Adam Marcus issue, except to say that we (the punters) should have been alerted earlier (not sure it was his fault alone).
The Guineas - point taken about the slow pace, but not convinced it played such a big part in the result; young horses can improve, that's the way it has always been; if one looks at the result, it can be argued that only Malmoos ran below form (and there may be a reason for that); Line Backer beat Rascallion by an identical margin as in the Concorde Cup, while I think it has been shown that Seeking the Stars is vulnerable over 1600; of course the winner has improved out of sight, but these things happen; I would still use both Line Backer and Rascallion as line horses running to around 102 and 100 respectively ....

Thanks Ziets for your inputs.
It was a big showpiece for racing yesterday and as far as “racing people “
WE LOST A LOT OF RESPECT on many fronts, as our overall situation continues to deteriorate 👎

@ Frodo, as the licensed trainer of the horse, surely he should know his own horse's well being and or the interruptions in the horse's training program, whatever the reason.
To come television 5 minutes before the race and to say what he said, is just wrong. Unless you were in a tote and took an on the head punt on the horse, you probably could have had the bet cancelled. From a Hollywood perspective, one can cancel a bet provided there have been no changes to the betting. Immediately once the interview was finished, we all witnessed the betting changes.
To respond to Dave's reference regards the horse fly-jumping at the start, even if the horse broke on terms, it was never going to win.
Integrity was all that was needed, but not 5 minutes before the race.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Without relatively full information, there were better prices on other horses (eventual winner was much shorter after information became known)...all it does is it moves money from the hands of the many not in the know to the few that are in the know...sad...
