With the reduction in the number of races to be held annually we can also expect the number of Gr1’s to be proportionately reduced. Which other Gr1’s do you think should be be axed? Surely not the Met? 🤔

If those 3 at the bottom of the boards can make the Met field it just shows the lack of quality we have racing here in SA now.
No wonder we get pick 6 carryovers nearly every other day,bad horses are inconsistent horses.
We badly need some new blood in the breeding ranks and we have way too many average to below average horses running in this country.

I'm not sure what you are saying is correct. Think back to the first entries/nominations, hopefully you will recall, the names of, Rainbow Bridge, War Of Athena, Malmoos and Rascallion, to name a few. These are not robots, for whatever reason these horses were withdrawn.

Do i believe any of the last three in the betting can win, not really, but this is horse racing and the outsider does pop-up from time to time. It must be an honour to have a runner in the race, irrespective of the price.

I got involved early as I believe the runners may shorten:

R4: Warrior - imo best this distance and slightly under-rated at 108 - gets 4.5 kgs from his main danger Silver Operator, which I think gives Warrior the edge and imo good value at 2/1

R7: Rio Querari - I think everything points to him being too good at these weights for Real Gone Kid - only thing that may help RGK is if there is a tail-wind - still expects RQ to track RGK and pounce in the final 100m - again I think good value at 15/10

R10: For me, Sparking Water is the right one - is best in and gets 4 kgs from her main dangers Doublemint and Chrome Yellow, which imo should be more than enough - can't figure out the odds on One Way Traffic, who at the weights should struggle to beat Doublemint

R11: Izapha best bet on the card with Rio Querari imo - ran to much higher last time and to me should take a lot of beating - 4/1 great value

I have taken those 4 ATC and a Yankee as well - now they just have to win

It might have no chance but Tarry has won the Met with Alastor at any price, second with Gold Onyx at huge odds.

Some horses in recent years have hit the board at huge prices and Martial Eagle even won.

Anyway Hollywood deserves a runner in the race.

If not, then almost the rank outsider - Bunter Barlow (I think his name).

Fancy the double :-

R2) Steinbeck X (R4) Warrior

Take the winnings and back Jet Dark

Not sure if that is a pointer as to the result - just a reminder that he somehow found no support in the LQP and started at 10/1  And the big support is seemingly for Marina - was trading as much as 11/1 last week - now 13/2 at WSB

I think we are now heading into a new era of champions - only 2 runners in this year's race took part in last year's renewal - Do It Again and Cirillo - and those both seem past their best; Do It Again imo has always been a better horse at Greyville and Cirillo - well let's just call him a hopeful entry
