As mentioned before I'm not sure about the Arkansas Derby form so I thought that the winner might be overturned by the 2nd placed horse, Nehro. Neither really feature on my top 5 list.
I think this year should be watched and enjoyed....nobody should HAVE to handicap this race...it is a nightmare from top to bottom. Every horse has some kind of a chance.
Perhaps Barry can let us know what he thought of Animal Kingdom's workout on the Churchill dirt?

Animal Kingdom will have to rewrite history on a few accounts if he is going to win the Kentucky Derby. One has to go back to 1918 to find a horse that ran only 4 times before winning the race. One has to go back to 1956 to find a horse that had 6 weeks between races. And, most importantly, no horse that has failed to win on dirt has won the race. But this is a funny year and he may be an exceptional horse. We will see. We like his chances.
We have a better chance to win the Kentucky Oaks on the Friday before the First Saturday in May with Summer Soiree, the 5 to 1 fourth choice. It has been years since we've had any horse train faster than her. In her workout two back she went 1200m in an astonishing 1:09 1/5 on Polytrack. They had to bring out the water trucks to douse the tire marks on the racing surface!

Aside from Barry's horse, do any of the other runners have any South African links, by pedigrees etc.?

Barry's horse Summer Soiree had a bullet work just the other day and she is in great form. She should be involved in the finish.
1 Joyful Victory M. Smith 5-2
2 Lilacs and Lace J. Castellano 12-1
3 Summer Soiree G. Saez 5-1
4 Kathmanblu J. Leparoux 4-1
5 Suave Voir Faire M. Mena 50-1
6 Zazu J. Rosario 4-1
7 Her Smile G. Gomez 20-1
8 Bouquet Booth R. Albarado 20-1
9 Daisy Devine J. Graham 20-1
10 Street Storm S. Bridgmohan 50-1
11 Holy Heavens K. Desormeaux 50-1
12 Plum Pretty M. Garcia 5-1
13 St. John's River R. Napravnik 30-1
The favorite should be Joyful victory under Mike Smith but I make it open and the Team Valor horse has as much chance as any if she stretches out to the Oaks distance!
There has also been some talk form Plum Pretty under Matin Garcia. He has been having an excellent season riding a good amount of winners.
Pay your money, take your chance
