Well done to Barry and Team Valor. To own and breed a Kentucky Derby winner must be the ultime any racing entusiast would want to achieve.
Animal Kingdom well named, his father's name means The animal king , a brasilian bred stallion and a german bred dam (I am sure that this is where the stamina comes from) winning in america !

I believe I am the first Clansman to win the Kentucky Derby.
I wanted to portray myself as a Clansman, but in America, especially the Southern parts, a Clansman means something slightly different than a fellow that like to place wagers on horses.
Thanks for all of the well wishes. Much appreciated.
Only once in my racing life have I ever felt the same weakening of the knees and uncontrollable crying that I experienced after the Derby and that was when I sent out a 51 to 1 chance to win the famed Santa Anita Handicap. That day we paid $40,000 to supplement him to a $1 million race, we bet and we cashed big time. I was so weak legged that my wife had to prop me up to make it down stairs. I was so emotional that I couldn't speak a word to the press.
It was fun. And I made a lot of grown men happy as hell as they achieved their racing dream of a lifetime.
Thanks guys.
