soodum, go see a trainer, see what shares he might have available... check his monthly fees. If you happy to visit Raaintjies to see your share / horse, you can't go wrong with Roy Magner. If you happy with your horse being based at the VAAL try Louis Goosen or Binda, I think he's at vaal if i'm not mistaken...... GET INTO A SYNDICATE, it's safer on the pocket & more enjoyable.

No, Elvis, Clinton has his own place and is nowhere near the Vaal. I think it's called Muldersdrift or Mulders-something or other. Closer to Randjies than the Vaal, that I do know even with my skimpy grasp of Gauteng's geography.

Hey elvis, did you get Roy to slip you a few Buffalos for the mention :D

Also important imo is to check out the role of the vet in the yard - some yards make use of vets much more than others - the more vet visits, the bigger your montly bill gets .....also don't get into a syndicate blindly, make sure you can trust and get along with the other syndicate members

Good point re vets Frodo, I am sure they just let the vets run riot our vet bills have been more than the training fees on a couple of months this year.

....get a 2nd and 3rd opinion on what is proposed by the 1st....going to a trainer/bloodstock agent and asking what do they have available can get you into a spec buy that no one else wanted....then you are already in the miracle zone as it will make a great story that you got a champ that no one else wanted....increase your odds by making an offer to take a share of something you really like in a stable where you will feel comfortable.

so all the clevers laugh at me when i ask about a garantee. can i then ask these clevers for what does a bloodstock agent get paid for? this is a serious question i ask because we all have eyes to see the horse we read in the catalog.

i ask a simple question, what do the agent fees come from? to me it makes sense if you get paid for the wins not for the buying? if a agent say buy this and she cost R200 but only win a maiden for wahat do you pay? it is like going to the whorehouse for a full house and the woman does not give a bj. that is my view
