Titch, serious questions:
1. Do you punt?
2. If so, do you consider yourself a succesful punter?

I reckon to fix a race for a winner is very very difficult . To stop a horse from winning , not so difficult .

100% - mike up a Parade ring sometime and you'll be surprised what you hear - Not all the time but things happen in the real world that no matter how unpleasant for certain people to hear, are true.

Not saying there is or is not any form of this, mind you there is the whole gambling side to this sport same as most other sports like football; cricket etc. The art of this sport is form, typically look at race 7 yesterday where the 3RD placed horse Egyptian returned R8.40.........did you know this horse placed fourth on Tuesday only 1.8 lengths behind the leader. For me it depends what you want out of this game, the more you study and more you know the better you become.

Titch last few questions:
1. You seem to be connected or know the jockeys somehow, so do you get help with your punting info?
2. If so, does this practice make punting a level playing field for all stakeholders?
3. Lastly could the perception of this kind of relationship be deemed as corrupt?
I am not having a go at you personally and if you are not connected to jockeys in anyway I apologise in advance but I am just trying to highlight how an "outsider" and joe public percieve racing. Its perceived as a game for the connected and the rest are just pool contributors. The same can be said for owners / trainers and other racing insiders.
If one has to analyse the successes of connected insiders vs someone like me or others on this forum, you will find that a larger percentage of winning bets are struck by the former.
You just have to see the code between posters and the PM's to realise there is some truth in the above statement.
The above may have little to do with racing being fixed but has quite a bit to do with the perceptions that the above practices create.
As George Orwell said "some animals are more equal than others".

Alcaponee.,
As a former jockeys agent i can 100% confirm that i had in certain instance called a trainer for a ride only to be told " you dont want to ride that this time, its just going for a run, try find a better ride in the race"
Sadly Betfair did not exist those days.

Al the fallacy that jocks are any better tipsters than an ardent form studier is exactly that ..a fallacy,..George Orwell also tells us “Myths which are believed in tend to become true" and this is without doubt the case in horse racing..
but to answer your questions yes I do know numerous jocks on a personal level and yes we do discuss various horses/races but thru years of torment I have learnt to trust my own judgement above theirs, there are many many times that more than 1 of them are adamant that they will win the same race and they all have legitimate reasons why and all this does is just add to the confusion, so the answer to your 2nd question is no it certainly does not represent a level playing field with the uniformed who listen blindly to the jocks and bet accordingly at a distinct disadvantage, as far as the perception of a punter/jockey relationship being looked upon as corrupt I dont think it should be looked at in that light but the majority of the time anyone who does exactly what a jock tells him to do can be excused for believing that they are "in the middle" as the win rate is shocking in most cases hence my M O is to trust my own judgement and when I do my tom I only have myself to blame...there are a number of posters on this site that I would back on a head to head basis against any jock in a tipping competition,in fact there has been numerous times when I have taken advice posted here and played against the "graft" and won...the advice given here is invariably a very educated guess with facts and form to back it up, free and a whole lot more accurate...the game may well be for Kings and cnuts but even cnuts like us will have our wins and at least be Kings for a day
