Marcus do not need the money, he is trying to win for the punters that placed bets on him to win the championship. Also being champion jockey 3 seasons in a row wouldn't hurt.

Marcus is the punters champion and the bookies enemy.

Remember that Marcus has to win 1 race more than Gavin to take title as a count back on 2nds is the norm, and Gavin is way ahead.

At the mo they both have 2 titles to collect with Gavins wins in Jhb Zim and Anton in SA + Dbn
