> Hi Rob
Hi David
I am at home recuperating after a knee replacement operation and have only
today set up my laptop at home.I have therefore just read your email of 24
May.
I recall that you spoke to me about two years ago prior to the last Asian
Racing Conference which was held in Sydney but have not spoken to you
since.
I am almost certain that given that the conference in Turkey is less than
two months away that the programme and list of preentations and speakers
has been finalised.I will however contact the organisers and revert to you
once I have received their response.
Kind regards,
Rob de Kock

Hi Rob
Thank you for your reply, I hope I never came across too strong to your lady
at the office, I had read somewhere that the conference was starting 2 June
in Turkey and am so glad to hear that its two months away.
Sorry to hear about your knee, I wish you have a speedy recovery, but
perhaps you could use this time at home with your laptop to go on to
www.formgrids.com , its all about horse racing and if you need a heads up
then give me a call or Vee Moodly or almost anyone in the industry, they all
using it you know.
Forgive me for being repetitive but please read below slowly
Trainer Louis Goosen recently said
"David, your site is the most vital tool for me in Racing"
Trainer Mike De Kock said
"bloody hell it is really comprehensive... impressive and an invaluable tool
to study with... no one should buy a horse in South Africa without checking
its form out on your website... hope it goes well for you."
Jockey Anton Marcus said
"I am addicted to FORMGRIDS."
Trainer Scott Kenny said
"Formgrids is the most exciting thing to come out of racing since I've been
around, we on it all the time."
and our own Ex Champion Jockey Andrew Fortune said
"I live on Formgrids, I don't know how racing would go on without it, It
helped me to win my championship"
I could go on and on but im sure you dont need me to paint a picture for
you, the long and short of it is that this tool is GOOD for racing, and as
you know, by being South Africas representitive on the IFHA, that the racing
world is looking for new GOOD ideas going forward to face the challenges
that racing has encountered. I can quote the desperation that has come out
of past conferences but feel I don't need to as you were present at those
conferences.
Like I say I could go on and on but I would only be wasting time and we
cannot afford to waste one precious minute by your standards if the
conference is ONLY two months away, I personally could walk to Turkey in two
months, but maybe herein lays the problem, as you say
''I am almost certain that given that the conference in Turkey is less than
two months away that the programme and list of preentations and speakers
has been finalised" , it seems to me that you are already giving me the
news, any clown knows that conferences have a purpose and amendments can be
made for any worth while inclusion.
I am tired of this silly game I have to play with the Horse Racing
Hierarchy, you sit on a great South African innovation and try pretend it
does not exist, for seven years, and I have to beg you to display it to
racing operators worldwide, who are looking for just such things in racings
fight for survival, instead of you fulfilling your role as head of the HRA
and seeking out advancement in the racing industry/sport, and lending your
weight to it, don't you think that David Safi and Formgrids has being
punished enough for daring to have stood up for punters rights.
Anyway do your best and let South Africa know the result.
Best Regards
David Safi

Mr A ,i punt through memory and i mostly use your site for reference..
There is no other site i can think of where you can go check out how many odds on Favourites Jockey x won on or lost on. Or check the winning draws on Champions day 2010..
Very important site for us punters, that has no equal...

David is a very sincere fellow and he works hard. I admire what he has done on behalf of the punters.
His product, as limited and simple as it is, definitely beats Computaform, which to me is a joke of a publication.
But, as has been pointed out herein, the politics of the situation will always work against anybody that is independent and not part of the inner circle.
I met with David a few years ago.
Formgrids is of little use to me.
It would prove of practically no use to anybody in America were it to be adapted to our local racing.
The reason is simple: it doesn't add anything to the mix.
It is simply collateral form.
Americans don't rely on collateral form to make their bets
I was involved in a successful start up that is named Today's Racing Digest. That publication has thrived for about 40 years with $50,000 in seed money provided gratis by Santa Anita Park. The reasons that TRD thrives is that is includes tools and information that at the original time of entry were not found elsewhere.
Formgrids brings nothing new or pertinent to the discipline of handicapping races.
In America, we want to know way more than is now provided by Formgrids.
And we want a hard speed figure that relates to performance. Formgrids lacks this.
Timeform has been around for decades and has been copied to death. But it survives and thrives because it gives a punter something to sink his teeth into. It gives speed figures and analysis.
This product would be DOA (dead on arrival) in America.
David needs to flesh out his product if it is to become a viable handicapping tool for horseplayers.
