I'm not comparing legal systems merely what bail should be set at for certain crimes.....obviously the magistrate agreed with me because the original amount of 250k was later upped to 1 million.

This is not about legal systems or punishment but simply a rule set out for each crime.

So if you have a Billionaire Heir, with bank accounts in many countries, that kills his wife and a hobo that stabs another hobo in a drunken stupor they should all pay the same Bail? It is about the risk of fleeing or committing a similar crime and or your desire to influence witnesses that determines the bail(amongst other factors).

Bail should be the same for everyone and the bail should fit the crime......

He was going to pay R5 or he was going to pay R5 million it wouldn't have made any difference....you are right there....

Agree Mr H,guilty of a previous traffic fine and cleared of murder.This is a such an open and closed case,spent bullet cases were found 1.5m from the victim,how can you not know who you are shooting from 1.5m.

Vital new evidence: Police claim that Pistorius attacked Reeva with the cricket bat

Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius crushed his girlfriend’s skull with a cricket bat before shooting her dead, police have told her family.

Details of the post-mortem examination of South African model Reeva Steenkamp were withheld from last week’s bail application hearing.

But grieving relatives who saw her body before Tuesday’s cremation in Port Elizabeth described horrific injuries from the cricket bat, and entry wounds from 9mm bullets fired by Pistorius.

They were also briefed about the model’s death by police and lawyers from the state prosecutor’s office.

right at bottom,says watch us on youtube

Having had a bit to do with the USA judicial system(sic) and verdicts,I can tell you that logic is one aspect that is often missing.

Many international insurers will not include liability cover for the USA as it's legal decisions are as inconsistent as our objections!!!!!
