Its Lafferty's annual pilgrimage. I am sure this Group one race came in the way. Thats why he advised owners not to nominate. I remember Gavin van Zyl was asked if he was going to Dubai to watch The Apache, he said he would beb saddling No Worries. Laff should take a permanent holiday!

Absolutely spot on Craig. ALL the credit needs to go to Paul Lafferty and his team for this and you are being fooled into thinking this was solely the owners or Joey Soma's doing. Where do you think the months of preparation for this horse have been done ? - back home in the yard !! And despite Joey Soma turning the horse out impeccably, the preparation & credit for this win has to go to Paul & his team. This was acknowledged on TV by Gaby Soma. I know as fact that the owner wanted to scratch the horse 3 days ago because of a disagreement with one of the partners in the horse. Also he likes to take credit for nominating & engaging jockeys, etc but this could not be further from the truth, it's just interference ! As for the indecision about whether to race in the Classic or not, even Marcus was of the opinion that the trip might be a bit far and was probably the reason he did not accept the ride. Hindsight is a perfect science and for MENTOR to claim credit is delusional. Well done to all concerned for a great win by the stable & owners.

So laff gets the credit. Still does not explain why he was not on track. This was not a graduation. This was a group race.

If it was interference then Lafferty should ask the owner to take the horse to another trainer. I hope he does that!

I commend you on standing up for your fellow-trainer; but I know what I would be doing this week were I the owner of the horse - anyway well done Mentor - lucky or not - the result is up and that's that.(tu)

Easy

What does him being on track have to do with giving credit where it is due. His Dubai trip was probably planned long before this race entry was decided upon. It's difficult being in 2 places at the same time which is why his role was entrusted to Soma for the day.

Triple Tempo

Let's hope Laff does that and sets the record straight

Ok strat

Ill bite what was so pressing in dubai? Why cant this be seen for what it is. Contempt for owner and no respect for group race.

Ive partied with laff. Great guy but in this instance his absence is wrong

A time to travel
A time to stay put
A time for dubai

Love Struck is one of only 4 horses in yesterdays race to win as far as 1800m,and yet it wasn't expected to stay.On what basis?3rd highest rated horse in the race, why on earth isn't this a target race for the horse, not a filler inner.
