i am very critical of the tote...but i have to agree with flash and pirates...its well run...and with this size of pools...u have to be mad to support the bookies
if i see the limit of a bookie is 500 000 ....and the chance is there for upsets...my money is going into the tote...and play for the 900 000 pool....but like mauritius on saturday...a mate of mine...caught the mauritian p6 full unit with the bookie...pool 370 000...limit 500 000...only 70% WAS CAUGHT ON SAFTOTE...if he took it on saftote...there would have been a dividend of 200 000 declared to 1.7 winners...now there is still a carry over of 100 000...on saftote and my mate has caught it....because there was no way was he ever gonna lose out with the bookie..in this instance..and more proof that bookies...stand these bets..

I was also not a P6 punter because of this coupling thing. There were just too many horses coupled in Kimberly and Port Elizabeth centres but now i will definitely try my luck.

i think punters always talk of value....and u could never understand what this word value means....but...let me explain
i will not take a p6 or jp every meeting...i will look at a card...and see if i have a realistic chance of catching it...but if i fancy 2 short priced horse in a jp leg.....i am definietly taking a jp..as opposed to taking a double with a bookie...assume 1 horse is 6/10 and the other is even money...i will take about 3 jp's...BXBXFXF.....BXBX FEW HORSESXFEW HORSES...Because invariably the 6/10 in the jp wins as a 15/10 shot or better....meaning if the payout before the banker race is paying 20.00 when 6/10 wins the divindent goes to minimum...45.00

My views:

1. If carryovers are going to be the "norm".......the pick6 bet WILL NOT grow......as it stands, i reckon the pick6 pool will diminish over time anyway.
2. I reckon the bookies will have to relook at the limits........if they want to keep business. These limits need to be upped immediately.
3. Welcome back GB (tu)
4. I will be playing a few small pick6's, trying to banker in different legs in each ticket and hope to catch one.
5.Hibs......i thought Ben-Hur was already on a yellow card >:D<

Cheers all

Morning

My take is that the P6 pools might decrease but just like the Lotto when there is a C/O more people will try to catch it. As someone mentioned the majority of Punters only have a certain amount of funds available so can only INVEST that amount, if they play it all on the P6 the other bet types will diminish accordingly, unless NEW PUNTERS can be drawn in.

I will continue my stratergy, as with the Lotto, i.e. play small untill the Pool is BIG and then increase slightly.

IMO the way that the C/Os are allocated will have a bearing on the how Punters bet. Did Gavin Venter not get into Sh1t for suggesting live on TT that C/Os should stay at the Course where they originated from. Vee also said on TT that the P6 will now become the 'lotto' bet in Racing, any C/O in the Lotto automatically goes to the next draw, why not the same for the P6 at the same venue.

I would have to say definitely not but if the full unit comes to 2500 they would not spend 3000
Give everything but up!

is it indictive of our society that we don't even question the statements made on this topic. firstly that an extensive survey was done,a survey means a questionaire, secondly extensive i presume would mean from the bottom to the top.let them show the questionaire and the results.the p6 is to easy with the couplings wow there must be plenty millionaires in this racing game.if i was one of these people that found the p6 easy why would i want to make more difficult and have to spend more money for myself.reading between the lines nobody on this site was included in this survey so we are obviously not considered punters maybe we are just donaters

I was not asked - perhaps if someone was asked to complete the survey they could tell us what was said or was it rather a survey conducted during after races drinks?
