I hope no one got burnt on FFC and used their brains.
Craig did say FFC missed work and a gallop,in those conditions the beast was always going to tire..

Pirates, you are assuming the MR's are perfect. Why do you think I ran him here? Why after 210+ days did he only get a 3 point reduction? Take the extra kg into account as well. Did Red Rover improve with Gelding and run above his merit rating? You for 1 should know how many times I phoned Corrine to try and find somewhere to work the horse. Also tried to gallop at Scottsville but was turned down. We were hoping but as Dave said, I told everyone we had missed work and with a horse that has been out for 10 months and weighs over 530kgs that is not a recipe for success. I wont ever bother to reply to the other comment. I wont engage with him/her/it. He/she/it does not like me and knows nothing anyway.

craig i am not having a personal go at you but just giving you my opinion as a punter...i dont want to get into a boxing match over the state of the training and race tracks in natal as i might wake up with a knife in my back....as a punter we can practice retrospective ratings and i have ffs at least off a 104 to 106 ..in his last run he slammed a horse called regal eagle who isa 106 now and achieved it over sprints and the 4th horse lehaaf is also in the low 100s albeit achieved overa mile and is now campaigning in dubai....he ran 3l to contador who is a group 1 winner in open company and wasnt given the best of rides that day by muzi if you recall...by nominating for him a group race on summer cup day you obviously agree with me that his rating is way higher than the current 93.....red rover has achieved his rating over distances further than 1200m and the hcaper can only rate on what he has seen thus far from red rover and he wont get a penalty for his run yday..the winner is still unexposed over 1200m and could have won by a lot further if mj had ridden him out but will only get the max 6point penalty for his win...the second horse is fully exposed over sprints and also wont geta penalty for his second yday.....

to try and answer your question regarding the layoff allowance ...horses 4yo and older where no wfa was applicable at last start to recieve up to a 3 rating point allowance. .this applies for layoffs 210 days or more and it differs when layoff 365days or more...

Pirates, I am happy to reply to you anytime as most of the time you are being serious(unless about Rowdy) and not just causing sh!t. Handicappers said they could give me 5 but decided on 3. Their discretion. Some had a go at me because I would not say or reply to what I thought Night locks MR should be and I should know from what they worked with at home. Lets see what they think FFC's rating should be and also Falko's. The 2 worked together before Falko's last run and at about level weights(+/- 2/3kgs) over 900m on sand Falko beat FFC by 5 lengths. He came out and ran 4th in a maiden after that. Anton rode Falko so he can confirm the work. Everything you read/study is just on paper and these are living creatures that don't run on paper. We still have to see, maybe FFC is still not happy to really let himself go as the last time he did that he broke down and was in extreme pain. We just don't know as they cannot talk. Trainers can just hope and we do.

Morning Craig, most important did he pull up sound ? Another quest. Isnt 530kg a bit heavy for a horse with leg problems?

Neigh he has pulled up sound. 530kgs is heavy for a horse with those legs and gelding is an option and we had thought of it but decided to see how he went 1st. Some horses go backwards with gelding. It is not easy to get the weight off him as even on the grass he just does what he has to. Much lazier than he used to be! As MJ just said to me, he will have to race fit as he just will not put it in at work. Annoying!
