Trainers running horses when they are not fit is one of the primary reasons why form lines fail with unpredictable regularity.

Leon at least we were told......;)

Most just run them unfit without public knowing....oops thats thats whats happened here. Its only because Craig is an abc friend that we all know what is happening with this horse.

Why NO journo contacted CRAIG for horses well being in the week and then published it is ALSO the reason people. (Joe public) are naar both this game.

I believe that running an unfit horse can cause injuries

I'm also battling to get weight off, hence my need for a spinning bike but my wallet isn't too sound after the FFC run, be carefull when you out and about.

Leon, I would have thought you would have known more after having worked in a racing yard than to make a statement that insinuates that what I did was wrong. We had targeted the Merchants in Jhb before FFC was injured. The vets said it could possibly be done after we found out his injury. It was going to be tight but the vets were working on 9 months from op to running. He spent 4 months in the box, 1 month walking in hand, 1 month in a small paddock and then trotted for a month before working. What must I do? Not run him? He was fit enough to run ok and pull up sound and still have an outside chance of going for Jhb but we will take that as it comes. If we did not run yesterday we had no chance for Jhb and as anyone who has the foggiest idea about racing will tell you that one race is worth 4 gallops at home and he will not work at home! Should I have not run him? I told anyone that asked that he had missed work and was not100% and really expected tellytrack to have comments from the trainers on the meeting but they did not ask one person.More worried about Jhb this time. I and my owner stand by running him and I would do the same again. Where would I have run him if not yesterday?

I agree with Craig

The horse open and closed at the same odds. Clearly stable and clanners never backed it.

So public did, and that blame lies solely with the piss por gathering of information.

As Craig said he told everyone that asked him.

They dont ask because they dont really care about joepublic

Craig I for one think you have done the right thing for your horse and have no problem with that and on top of that you were open on this forum about the horse not being ready. It's a little crazy because in my day working for the then Jockey Club the rule was clearly that every horse had to go to win or try their best and while we all, know that that never happened it was not acceptable to,use races as gallops ! These days we continually hear trainers say that the horse just going out for a run or as atrainer put it in Sat morn " we just using this as a gallop" ! Again I say I don't have a problem with that as long as everyone knows your intention? But I was in the lounge on Sat where I heard someone tipping your horse as a good thing and that's sad! Clearly they did not read your comments on this forum and as you said nobody on Tellytrack took the time to inform the, public of,your comments. Wish you well, with the horse I thought it was a good run after that time off? Hope,he goes on to,win a feature for you and the owners? All the best!

Craig,if FFC had bolted up,you would have had people moaning about you saying it had missed work.
Sometimes you can't win by being open about the horses well being,as I said previous if you looked at this forum and read the comments,
surely you wouldn't have had a bet on the race.It was a watching brief only for me.

I would simply right off that run cos its way below his best.

I'm no expect Craig but I would suggest getting him to run match fit before the gelding. On what he has shown in the past he could just turn out to be something special, he's definately above average.
