He was from my time racing in Natal , Tony "abie" Abrahams, Ettienne "kid vd Westhuizen, Charlie Goode, Phillip Goldkorn, Tony Dumas(did commissions for Passmores) Chris Evans and a few more names that flash back now and again..........
We all raced every meeting and the regulars were all similar to a "clan" in those days........some great guys and great stories.
Kid got into the insurance industry and did very well and if his interview on Winning Ways can be believed,he is no longer a punting addict.............if you knew him well in those days you would find it hard to believe!..........he could fire with the best of them!

I worked as a runner for Bill Ferguson for a while before moving back to the Tatts at Loveday Street. When he decided to do take backs, I was ordered to take from every bookie in the gold ring. Not an easy thing to do, because the ring was always packed and punters would stampede and all try and and get the price on the hottie. which would shorten very quickly.

Nobody has mentioned another big punter.....marlon

One year on the 31st december at greyville in the last race of the night and the last race of the year Marlon had a horse running

Sydney something or other. I cant remember the name..

I think the money poured on from 9/2 to evens and won on its coconut making the night that much sweeter....

Was at the course 6 or 7 years ago with Marlon and Warren Zackey when a horse of his won, Sonic Gang...opened 6/1 and started in double figures, how they managed it im not sure but they got the absolute lot without shortening the horse and took massive doubles with a Tarry rocket that striker won with later on in the day... also remember the 2 of them catching a huge pick 6 when they bankered a horse of Roy Meaker's at Clairwood that was a "gin strike" and won a feature at 16/1..

Raymond Solomon was up there. Also the Guy from randburg tarts. His name escapes me. Never knocked anybody back.
Another punter that has stood the test of time is Greg Sadie.
