RP won the Derby, I think that's how he managed to qualify before going on to win the July. That may have been the first race of the day it rained so much.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Rake just split the 2 highest rated 3yo staying colts in SA, one is 9/2 and the other 11/2...you have to say 9/1 rather a good price. It's inconceivable they don't let him run which I only mention for the sake of completeness.

I think you spot on. Handicaps should pay much less than set weight races because, well, they are handicapped and the best horse is handicapped most. If the money for conditions and plated races is relocated from handicaps, you may set the conditions where people are willing to try, and it's a solution for horses who feel they are "badly" rated.
I think racing in SA was happier in the pre MR days because you had more options with "good" horses at the expense of "poor" horses. Now we have a system which supports poor horses (at the expense of better horses as LG says, and no one can disagree). Non of this is the fault of those tasked to set the weights.

I think the idea having 'smaller' stakes for handicaps and 'bigger' stakes for condition / plated races, is a good one and worth investigating by the 'powers that be'.
In terms of RC being at 9/1 - must be good odds when compared to Legislate and LTK (given that RC will get a rating similar to those) - interesting will be the weights - especially for Futura, who currently will be receiving weight from the other 3 - IF he gets in the race :S

So we have all missed the 'almost wedding' and appear to be forming a b-i-g queue for a possible funeral.

Rob, you have a personal problem with me. Good luck to you and to whichever cronies you support. If I were the only Trainer complaining about MR system and the handicappers application, on TT you would be right.... Unfortunately you are not....
As long as you are on ABC with your anti Operator and RA views, I will remain. So, go your hardest and attack me too....
Soon we will see....

Louis, are you pissed????
My comments are of a general nature, where you may notice(and from past discussion ), that I do not approve of the MR system.
I would guess, though, that due to our global involvement it's here to stay, hence my suggestion of programme change.
But if the cap fits ............My posts make no mention of you ...........are you afraid of those that actually commented on your intellect?
You mentioned recently a forthcoming litigation................I hope you chose the correct defendants! :

I'm confused - I didn't see the Louis Goosen TV interview so I cannot comment on what was said (or not).
Jack Dash makes some observations on it. Fine by me if they were accurately relayed. He's perfectly entitled to express an opinion. Furthermore, assuming you can understand plain English, he appears critical of the CONTENT and not the messenger.
Rob Faux adds his bit ( Rather mildly too, I thought ).
Louis Goosen promptly responds with a personal 'hissy fit' and attacks RF.
Is Mr Goosen now the officially appointed spokesman & defender of the operator & RA? Not when I last looked so why bring them into a thread on MR & handicapping?
Thank goodness these comments are all in incontrovertible writing or the thread could go on for months whilst we bickered on a 'That's not what I said' basis.
