With potential no Yorker, CTN and Beach Beauty, I feel the 3 year olds will dominate. It looks like we have very strong 3 year olds this year. Colts look stronger than the fillies IMO.

.....BUT 'weight stops trains' - not true? And I also FEEL the colts are better, but there's no real proof - unless I missed it :S

Would Legislate have to give Rakes Chestnut 2,5kg because of his Grade 1 penalty ?

I think we also have to consider how strong this crop is - they are holding form against each other consistently, there is a Triple crown winner amongst them and there is also a strong possibility of a Winter Series winner. Futura has beaten some hard knockers in the 1900 consolation so I think they are way better as a crop than their elders were. Depending on which older horses take their place in the JUly I really pnly can see a three-year-old win(Unless Yorker is in the race)
Remember Pomodoro won as a 108 and I think Louis at 109 is a far better horse and Legislate is easily a 110 so the older horses might be in trouble

Johnny, as far as I can make out 57kg is the maximum a 3 year old can carry so if a 110 MR is top weight then Legislate off his rating would carry 1kg less than he should.
