There was once a GOLD STANDARD at Ascot, Bulawayo. He was owned by the affable bookmaker Ray Muir.

FREE AGENT runs at Kenilworth today. Sure, he was also a popular winner owned by the Queen at Royal Ascot 2008

OVERDOSE was one of the most successful horses EVER, Sad to see Grade 1 winners name replicated so quickly en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overdose_(horse)

naresh wrote: There is a horse making its debut today Ace Pilot in Greyville Race 7. In the 1980's there had a horse also named Ace Pilot who won couple of features. I can remember Ace Pilot beating Blue Cossack in the Mainstay Trial and then Blue Cossack going onto win the Mainstay itself. Ace Pilot also ran second the year before that to Jungle Warrior in the Mainstay. Jungle Warrior was also a Cape Derby and Met Winner. Nostalgic memories, but getting spoilt with repeat of horses names...

Oh well the new Ace Pilot won. The new Ace Pilot grandam produced a foal called Certainly who was the dam of Grade 1 winner Wolf Whistle. Bitter sweet win for me.
