looks like there will be a few days worth of witnesses called so that the judge can decide what the penalty is going to be...........can be house arrest or a fine......to a max of 15 years.
So what was happening in the last month????
This is really drawn out

Justice system seems focused on rehabilitation rather than retribution...seems mightily unjust for victims of crime and their loved ones left behind...
Such is the law and it must be respected and accepted for we do not know what lies in our futures that may have us begging for mercy from the same justice system...
We all think we know the law and apply our own morality to questions of right and wrong, fairness and justice...but only lawyers and judges know the law (and if Judge Masipa got it wrong then more learned justices will pronounce on this on appeal...)
I come back to the point about my perception is that some lives being of greater value than others and another perpetrator without the resources that OP has access to...would Correctional Services have made the same recommendations ??
And therein lies another injustice in addition to the victims...

If you need any further proof that our justice system is a farce then look no further....

After all this time and money I don't think we will ever know the real truth on what happened on the horrific night?
Oscar has to live with it and it would appear he is managing
Sad very sad

I was inclined to think that the therapist's report was written by OP or BR...it had little / no objectivity and no amount of money that the therapist was paid can compensate for the damage to her credibility as a result thereof...
You are a professional so as to objectively apply your knowledge and experience to the circumstances presented and give an honest opinion...as soon as you compromise your objectivity and independence, you lose your credibility...
An expert appears in court to assist the court and the therapist failed to consider anything other than what OP or BR put to her...

The fact that she CRIED in court when he removed his "legs"shows her absolute bias - What was she thinking? I am embarrassed for her -

This sentencing hearing is amazing......................surely the "experts" for the defence could sound a little less "paid for"
Right now ,you would swear Oscar was the victim!!!
(I would think that an eventual appeal by the state is looking more and more likely)

The "witnesses" / experts / etc almost seem to be fawning over OP...do they realise that he was convicted of the negligent killing of a human being ?? !! And that that verdict was arrived at by the judge giving him the benefit of the doubt on many counts even though she acknowledged that he was a poor witness...
Eish !!!
Again, we ask if the outcome (verdict and sentencing) would be the same had the person involved not had the resources of OP nor the public profile...
