Having also raced for over 40 years, the day I truly expect to get given the "REAL GRAFT" ,of a betting stable, on a public forum or transmitted on Tellytrack ,I will have my head read!
The stuff imparted is mostly Ja/Nee( tomorrow will be a lovely day ,if it doesn't rain
)................just compare post and pre race interviews!!!
(A most interesting article from Racing Post about "insider information"was on the ABC homepage..........if that interpretation was local it would change imparted information completely)

when Piere Strydom gets it wrong it has nothing to do with deception, he is mostly factually correct going on turnabout in weights draws etc, only thing he mostly gets wrong is how much difference he really makes to a horse
is the trainer/jockey looking after his customer more important than the game looking after its customer,

Sodum take my advice and get yourself off to the casinos then.

Remember the betting board is like having an inside ear to stable confidence - You can see the horse being hammered (like getting the nod from Warren Buffet before he buys a share) - Remember if this was KZN and Anton was up for Charles Laird/ Markus Jooste everyone and their dog would have followed the money unquestioned. Different trainer and Jock but same scenario - Sometimes the form book needs to be supplemented by additional knowledge like this.

Ota
This is the whole point of this thread
And why a bookie like Marshall now takes 10% of his bets on racing

It is not about that 2nd race yesterday and which horse won etc.
It is about a far more important issue ie the integrity of horse racing in RSA.
Is this just the tip of the iceberg, exposed by the "idiot" Byleveld on TV.
What goes on in a Flamingo park meeting on a monday when hardly anyone is paying attention.
How far exactly does the rot go???
Is everybody keeping quite about it because they are filling their own pockets.
I will personally be making a huge effort to highlight what went on yesterday to the "average" punters that dont have TT etc. Its time people knew what actually goes on .

Ota I demand honest info,I insist
on it ,if racing is to become a lottery
I may as well go to the casino and the operators
and insiders can take racing n shove it up their
arse ,I'm not asking for tips,

And LG has avoided my question,
In a imaginery world LG if we had real racing
journos and you were asked 3 days before the meeting or before
betting opened what will you say to a journo
that asks you about a horse you planning a coup on?

To punt a horse heavy with Byleveld in the irons is a quick way to the poor house.
He nearly got beat on it and that ride on the odds at Fairview on Friday was kak.

Well said Bob, many a time I have fancied my horse, tell all an sundry on this website...... only for the horse run shit......have egg on my face an feel embarrassed.... shut the f up next time, only for the horse to win at 10 / 1
Truth is with gambling there is no 100 % guarantee...... how many " goodthings " have got beat
Look at 06 dec. CAPE TOWN
Ovar 15/20 ran 4th
Upper echelon 11 / 20 ran 4th
Daring dave 7/10 ran 2nd
Alboran sea 11 / 10 ran 2nd
These were 4 " good things " at ONE MEETING that all got beat, and how many big time punters burned their fingers. IRRESPECTIVE WHAT ANY OWNER, TRAINER, JOCKEY TELLS U - THERE IS NO GOOD THING U CAN PUT YOUR HOUSE ON, you'll only land up at the SALVATION ARMY.
YES, do not mislead the public intentionally on any forum, but at the end of the day u decide which horse to back and how much to wager.

You may and can think what you will about MJ Byleveldt but the one thing that can never be questioned is his integrity, the man is as honest and straight up as they come, the fact that he answered the question posed in the post race interview is testament to the man's character imo, he could quite easily have used the normal excuses, first timer, greenness, luck in running etc etc but in true MJ fashion he chose to tell the unmitigated truth and for this he is being slaughtered??
The fact that he said in the pre race interview that he would be disappointed if the horse was out the 1st three seems to be being overlooked and should have been testament enough of the horses well being and the factual way he chose to answer the post race question I believe should be commended...
