Happened to me in the past in the UK!
Look it was human error the guy has loaded 14/1 instead of 0.14/1
My thoughts if you see a rick like this and get away with it cool, if you don`t get paid there is no harm done!

if you read garricks write ups he often states that you need to build a relationship with a bookmaker and i hardly think taking advantage of a clerks typo error is building a relationship ..

Pirates i have no gripe with bookmakers per say and have accounts with HW, BW, WSB and a private bookmaker so your wrong pal.
HW made a mistake, you are correct, however that is an internal problem and the fact that it was not immediately corrected and that the bet was accepted and shown to be a winner is the problem. When striking a bet and accepting both parties are agreeing, "caveat subscriptor", if there were provisions for, "oh i didn't know i was making a mistake", this would exist in law.
You of all people should identify with this situation.....
In fact Pirates, you are probably the most astute punter i know that makes money from "wrong odds" or "mistakes/opportunities" in horse racing......please do not alter your opinion based on other criteria.

Dear HollyWood,
You have admitted that the mistake was made by yourselves as a company however you are not willing to accept any liability. This is clear as your company deliberated over what to do for the customer for hours and ultimately decided to pay at what the odds "should have been" for which there is actually no contract. BTW you cannot retrospectively draw up a new contract of what something should have been.
Why not just call the customer and actually talk to them and reach an agreement??? Offer to pay at what the odds should have been and give them 50% of the value of the wrong bet in betting vouchers? Your inability to compromise and or look after your customer is what will ultimately anger your customers in general.
Use it don't use it........

Just for info....
DEFINITION of 'Caveat Subscriptor' A latin term that means "let the seller beware." Caveat subscriptor means that any defect or shortcoming in a good or service that is sold to a willing buyer is the responsibility of the seller.

maybe this was valid in the days when punter's wanted credit - now, as with the "errors", it is a one way street.
Another thing with hollywood - when taking a bet on horses, in running whatever- your bet is often declined because the price has shortened - NEVER are you advised that the bet is declined because the price has increased. A one way street.
at least with betx and bw you are advised either way

That is the question . could any reasonable punter HONESTLY believe that a price 100 time higher s correct? We are dealing with in running and the winning team was obviously never going to lose hence the cramped oddes of 1/7. No is the answer - If I see a TV that normally sells for R1000 being sold for R10 without any SPECIAL or promotion must I think It's my lucky day or more realistically do I realise it is a blatant error? There is fault in the way HW handled this as they should have contacted the punters involved or suspended betting immediately but for me there was NEVER any consensus as Hollywood never intended to offer the bet at 14-1 ... that is a stretch too far

Mr H you are correct but the responsibility shifts to HWB when they accept the bet not when they offer it.
The shop that advertises the TV at the incorrect price will/should rectify at the till or before the deal is concluded and they would have every right to however once the item has been paid for and leaves your store is another matter all together.
An advert or price is an invitation to do business, once concluded, i.e. paid for and accepted the contract is considered concluded.
I am not saying that this was not a mistake but that the liability cannot be AJ's 100%
