According to the Computaform, he raced wide on the bend. Unfortunately the replay i watched only joins the race from about the 500m mark, and the horse is already on the outside rail with quite a few to find on the front runners. How much extra he ran, i cannot say, what is clearly evident is that he finished like a rocket and was a comfortable second and actually closing on the winner, Carbon Offset who got first run. He appears to be a horse who enjoys racing handy, from a good draw on Saturday, he'll put this field away comfortably. See he has eased a bit, 1/1 out to 11/10 maybe in light of the support for King Django, 10/1 into 7/1. Wait until race time you may get a much bigger price on HH.

According to Gallop, Baritone was scratched at 14:43 yesterday. Every bookie I can see has still got him in the betting. Why does it take so long for a horse to be taken out of a race after it has been scratched? There is obviously a glitch in the system as it is every bookie that has not received the information.

Some thoughts on the card :-

R1) I make Leisure Trip the one to beat. Has run to some really decent sorts and done okay. Has run twice over the course and distance for a close up second (in last year's race) and a far from disgraced 4th. Races fairly handy, so from draw 4 he could get first run on the immediate market rivals and pull this off. Encouraging to see the betting support from 13/2 into 7/2. I make Silver Class the immediate danger, but is on a wicked drift. Seek The Summit has loads of followers, but to be honest, this is a rise in class, i cannot see her pull off the 4 timer.

R2) I am strong on the favourite, Head Honcho. Unlucky loser last time out, should start shorter at race time. What would be interesting to know is why van Niekerk is not riding considering he is the stable jockey, not that Marcus is an inadequate "pinch-hitter".

R3) Call me deluded, I make The Centenary (16/1 and bottom of the betting board) a runner here.

R4) Quite fancy the chances of Captain Splendid. Seven of his last 8 runs have been in Listed or Group races. I thought this horse raced in snatches lat time out, not that I expected him to win the Derby. Not given an overly punishing ride last time out, Strydom back in the irons is a plus. Still trying to work out why Hermoso Mundo is favourite here?

R5) No fancy.

R6) Captain And Master, just watched the maiden win, couldn't have been more impressive albeit over 1200m, but he won easing up long before the winning post. The extra 200m shouldn't pose any problems.

R7) The JULY, I am clueless.

R8) Despite being a 3 year old and carrying 60.5kgs, I make Attenborough the one to beat, however not a strong fancy. The dark horse for me could be Doing It For Dan. This chap was rated 105 in February and now runs off a 96. The draw does worry me, but must be in with a shout.

R9) The value in the race for me is Prince Of Kahal. He is a two time winner who won in open company last time out, and very early in his racing career at that, that speaks volumes. See there has been some betting support, ignore this one at your peril.

R10) Two horse race and I'm siding with Just Sensual.

R11) Very open race, initial fancy was Lloyd's Legacy, just been advise he has been scratched. Always felt Doosra is the dark horse, so that becomes my selection.

R12) Nebula is all the rage but at the weights I'll be siding with Union Jack.

These big race days are always difficult, good punting.

Thanks Bob for posting preview with MD

Surprised that Mike D says bad draws could be good draws by race time . This after 5 Races ? How bad is thus course going to be ?

Nice write up Bayern...for my 2c...I am taking the Western winter dbl...Attenborough and Bishops Bounty...these WW do well on the poly. Both first time and both highly rated!

My general thoughts on the card. Many horses are running because connections want a runner in July day. Garth Puller mentioned that his owners wanted a runner so he entered. If well spotted then you can reduce some fields to horses just entered for owners to feel good.

Also agree that late turf races will throw up results. Not sure what the course condition will be!

Neptunes Rain - Massive runner even from that draw
Argo Magic - Best outsider
Edict of Nantes - Gonna be a hard horse to beat
