My selections for Saturday, not gonna go into much detail but here it is...

R1. Leisure Trip
R2. Head Honcho (Perhaps a stable double first up but we all know this is not usually how it starts so I'm not holding my breath)
R3. Trophy Wife - Just a feeling and a fancy, more hope than brains selection for me
R4. FARK ME... So many chances here but I do fancy a wee bit of SUN ON AFRICA
R5. GEE WHIZZ this is another minefield, putting all names in a hat and drawing six numbers and taking a small percentage quartet boxed.
R6. VARALLO - Competitive race but hopefully all the birds are spot on! (For the record though, lot's of those birds migrate soon after the race) :) Serious amount of dough on this one though
R7. Call me all the names under the sun, I COULDN'T give a flander but at the same time if either wins for you then seriously GOOD FOR YOU! I am absolutely brassing AL SAHEM and EDICT OF NANTES, I think the latter will finish ahead of the favorite but it's just a think. Both are smart horses (perhaps smarter than me) and very very well weighted (Which I'm NOT) but to be honest they haven't exactly taken on anything special and the same applies on Saturday. I do like BLACK ARTHUR but I cannot back a Snaith runner for the July, TEN GUN SALUTE also a runner but there are still some questions for me. THE CONGLOMERATE must be respected and could possibly follow up. I'm going with the horse who ran 2nd last year, mountain to climb at the weights but something tells me we haven't seen the best of him yet, I think he will be flying at the end whatever happens. MARINARESCO in the winners box.
R8.to R12. - Only bet worth taking perhaps is BELA BELA, taking my doubles VARALLO onto BELA BELA

Good luck fellas, enjoy and have fun, hope you fill your pockets ;)

I have tried to narrow the July down to an 8 horse shortlist:
7,8, 10, 11,12,13,14,18
My reasons:

1. Marinaresco - The best horse in the race but I think too much to do at the weights
2. French Navy- has had his chances and a lot to do at the weights
3.Master Sabina- Best at Turffontein
4. Brazuca- drawn widest, best Turffontein, a lot to do at the weights
5: Krambambuli- drawn wide, best handy, handicapper has his measure
6. Saratoga Dancer- not too well in at the weights and hard to see much more improvement.
7. The Conglomerate- good warmup in the Gold Challenge where he ran up to his rating over a distance short of his best. Has been shrewdly placed to protect his rating. Good draw.
8. It's My Turn - well weighted 4yo and can come from off the pace so may overcome the draw. can still improve.
9. Ten Gun Salute- lucky to get a ru and I think lacks the class. The 6 lb penalty for his last win too much.
10. Nightingale- well in at the weights and will enjoy the trip. Nice draw.
11. Black Arthur- another well weighted 4yo and can still improve.
12.Edict of Nantes- has done nothing wrong and has plenty scope for improvement.
13. Al Sahem- improving 3yo from top yard
14. Mr Winsome- has snuck into the race through the back door and not sure if he has the class, but has a nice galloping weight for a 4yo and by the right sire.
15. Scratched
16. Pagoda- looks held by the other 3yos
17. Tilbury Fort- lucky to get a run- I think lacks the class
18. Safe Harbour- well in at the weights on best form.
19. Horizon- looks held by the other 3yos.

R6. The "birds chirping" .... Varallo x Captain and Master x Hakeem
R7. Al Sahem, Edit of Nantes, Ten Gun Salute ( I have doubles running on those). I will include Black Arthur, Conglomerate and It's my Turn in the P6

Through school run I have seek the summit ahead of leisure trip and agree with many that silver class is a big runner but think Delpech will give seek the summit the edge. Also think without traffic issues last time seek the summit could've won by 3 and is lucky to have only picked up such a small penalty.

Gamblers Anonymous says back with your head not your heart. Forget about whom you think is well handicapped or who has the best combinations of selection criteria. Ask yourself that if your favorite horse had to win and you backed something else with the most criteria would you be more gutted if your favorite horse won than the other way around. For this race, throw out the form book and back with your heart but do NOT be breaking the bank.

Hi Guys, please can I have some help or the views of the clanners in terms of structuring exotics (P/A, Pick 6, Bipot etc) for July day. Looks a minefield!

any views of where we could go short? is Al Mariachi a banker? etc

would love to hear the clanners views, and Ziets post us something if you can, always appreciate your views as well.

Do we need to create a new topic for this?

Thanks
