What I really want on Easy's agenda is the mass of the horse. Used to have them in Cape Town and Sporting Post used to publish the historical races.

BUT this is bogus.....
Im biting. Let me ask you two questions:
If dispersing information is in your nature ( I would hazard a guess and say after you were "on" but let's not nitpick ) why would you have a problem with barrier trials?
Have you ever had feedback from a trainer about the ability of one of your horses and been disappointed on debut? Has that disappointment carried through in subsequent runs?

No, getting on is always going to be after those in South Africa. Also the days of winning £50k on a horse are getting tough so getting on does not come into it. My problem with barrier trials is in all the questions i asked earlier. I support to "nitpick' my main question is HOW are barrier trials going to help Goodman Dlamini in Soweto THAT FEEDS the tote everyday and NOT most on here that play the open bet.
Have you ever had feedback from a trainer about the ability of one of your horses and been disappointed on debut? Has that disappointment carried through in subsequent runs?
Yes a few times, mostly though the assessment on debut has been spot on. Now would i like my assessment to be public knowledge then the answer is NO. That is because imvho that can only end in tears. If we say it is fancied and it runs last (we accused of laying it) if it wins next time out the getting a price was the reason. So i think any information (wellbeing) should be between owner and trainer only. Same as if a trainer said to me : this is useless but lets give it 1 or 2 runs maybe it shows in a race" i would not like people thinking I'm a doos(more people)....and heaven forbid if it won.
Again i really and truly fail to see how this is a step in the right direction. Fixing form grids.com would seem more important.

and 2 last little points
apart from no2son robert brogan davetheflower and cnc do you really think joe public look at the "barrier" trials in greyhound racing?
and don't get me wrong, I'm gonna win plenty with these barrier trials just dress don't it as a tool for the public. but i cannot wait until the 'trail winner" opens up 7/10 on course and they laying 14/10 on the machine for gazzillions........then ill know. the public won't but i will.
its fraught with flaws

ftimers aside - How many punters are killed because they back a form horse coming back from a long rest without knowing if it is well or not - The non-existent Racing Press now have the responsibility of getting the info out to the punters - Contary to popular belief even the poorest punters can read and they sit in the totes reading the Citizen and do follow the mostly uniformed opinions of the scribes (They don't work hard enough and ask trainers the important questions but rather speculate using form which any punter can do) - I walk into the totes fairly often(less now with formgrids down) and I am always greeted with "Did you see Prince Of War is going to Dubai" or such like comments which is normally old news on ABC but is part of the Citizen's lead so I do think that paper and those in KZN etc can transfer barrier trial news to the small tote punter with ease.

Mr Hawaii
Now we cooking on gas
I can start to agree with that. But what about the biggest con for ALL punters
Not knowing when AHS 1 and 2 have been given

Been trying for years to get that going and also any horse rested for over three months on medical grounds reason should be disclosed on its return

If it works in Singapore and Hong Kong why shouldn't it work in South Africa?Maybe because they are honest there and if they try the graph it is out there for everybody to see.Surely that could not harm anybody?Easy don't worry about if this or if that.If you are doing everything above board and not trying something devious then your conscious is clear and it don't matter what other people think was going on as long as you know the true story.

One thing that punters will learn quickly is that certain horses will make major improvement after a trial and the skill in seeing that and understanding how one "run" can bring on a baby will still give owners an edge if they have a competent trainer so the owner still has his deserved advantage
