Will it encourage punting yards to skulduggery at the trials ?
Can’t see punters like Sean Tarry sending his bombs to KZN now

I was not at the meeting. Was travelling up to load up last things at Vaal.
I may not like it but I will always support the majority and work it out from there.

I read you Frodo. I assume that GC will pay the transport to the trials and the Owner will pay the overtimes for grooms.
I will always be on the side of a more pro racing set up. For example, we would like to attract more people to experience racing. In KZN we have two beautiful Training centres with great breakfast venues. So, by all accounts, we want to copy everything from Overseas. Everything is better there. For instance, Hong Kong. So, might I ask when our duly microchipped horses in Training will all be numbered and catalogued and then obliged to wear their number cloth everyday when exercising, so that Punters can follow/monitor a horse's progress at work ?

i can't wait for the following instructions pre barrier trial
" i want you to jump out, take a tug to teach it to race sit back about 8-10 lengths and start your run at the 80m mark."
going to be like watching some NH flat races......

Call me old fashioned but this is my take on the barrier trials situation. As a racehorse owner, I will not pay for these trials as I expect my trainer to run my horses fit & well.
Horseracing, the sport which we all love, is on an irretrievable downslide. The reasons for this decline include many different aspects especially the modern day punter preferring sports betting, lotto numbers online casinos etc. Bookmakers & those who are influenced by them do not help the credibility of our sport.
Whatever the outcome of these barrier trials they will be seen as just another excuse by those professional complainers who never miss a chance to criticize & who feel they have a divine right to the trainers or owners information or comments. I'm sure Bob is sick & tired of certain clanners nagging him when he doesn't post the comments.
Chicken is correct. Trainers should be careful when posting their comments. They are in a lose lose situation. Whatever their comments are there will always be certain people who complain and who feel hard done by. The fact that Marcus doesnt want to be interviewed after winning a race shows that whatever he says about his remaining rides, he will be taken to task for things like, not telling the public or not trying hard enough or whatever criticisms the complainers come up with.
I read Easys posts on this topic carefully and I think his opinions are mostly correct. Who, besides a select few, are going to benefit ??
Finally, we are all good people who believe in equality & righteousness & equal opportunity etc etc etc but,If, there is a chance to pull of a coup, which is seldom successful, shouldn't I as an owner have first go at the bookies, after all I am paying through my teeth for my horses upkeep & training.

For me, I see owners only "owning" their horses once i.e. when they run for the first time, and after when Joe Public owns them. Now KZN owners never "own" their horses. Raiding other provinces with first timers also costs money.

Once the horse is racing at the course, it is in the public domain. Once there is betting on a race, it is in the public domain.
Trials in other countries include the following:
1. first timers and long layoff horses
2. horses must do two trials to qualify to race
3. horses must complete trial within threshold time to qualify (no slacking)

Many punters who bemoan the lack of transparency will likely regret many imposed meaxures , shoukd the sport ever become ultr transpardnt.
Coups, upsets and disguised form have forever been a part of the game. It is these aspects of the game that present us with value when wagering.
I would likely oack up racing dntirdly, in a time where the oublic pick wins 50 or 60 percent of races, and many owners would probably see no va,ue in continuing in the game.
Of course i am only talking about sportmanship issues associated with this game for centuries, and not outright cheating
