not very long ago our top cop with the hat advised that in our previous life that the normal daily average of deaths in SA was 234 per day within our population of plus/minus 60 mill.
Does that mean that the covid deaths are reported separately.

irritated with figures that SA health department are putting out.
they are lulling people into a false sense of safety, that the virus numbers are dropping dramatically.
all that has happened is a near 80% drop off in testing numbers. Yes most provinces have past peak of first wave infections but numbers are not giving a fair representation of status of the virus numbers.

Be careful when u go out
be alert at work
respect older peoples space if u have young kids who are already back at school.

Caught an interview with someone last night on TV - he was of the opinion that if you analyse the stats world-wide, there is no evidence that a lock-down has had any effect on COVID-19 cases and deaths - also no evidence of a 'second wave' - basically what many of us suspected back in March - huge over-reaction by governments over the world - check out Sweden - no lock-down - and COVID-19 stats on par with countries that had severe lock-downs .....

one thing I will concede is that sanitation and social distancing has worked on the flu- I really don't know anyone who has had flu - in previous years someone in my family would have had flu by now or am I imagining that?

I agree - and I believe the official figures on people contracting flu is way down - so imo definitely something to be said for sanitizing, masks and social distancing - however some of the other measures only served to drive economies down world-wide

.....I had the flu as do every year....but then again any others that may have had it did not run off to the doctors because a) they were scared to catch covid b) were retrenched and no longer have medical aid b) lost job and no budget for Covid test....no money to go to a doctor c) had Covid and did not want to be a statistic ....stats can be skewered if one does not operate within the same parameters.....Covid has thrown an eminence curve ball ...but sanitizing and wearing masks and not breathing all over each other must have flattened that curve considerably...
