Out of about 4000 (wild estimate) that ran in South Africa last season, only about 400 or so earned R142k or more.

R142k/12 = R11833p/m * 61% = +-R7200 p/m.

That's roughly 1 in 10 chance to break-even. Tough game this.

That's not a 25/75 stakes split. It's 25% off the top which is not the same thing.

EDIT: or...it is 25/75 gross stakes split, but the syndicate pays all the jockey and trainer costs.

The last time i saw this much hassle with money and %'s was during the buidling of the Millenium Dome sadly that turned out to be a white elephant and i am sure that this syndicate will only live in the pages on this site and never take off. The figures just dont stack up.

:S

stop it Sabre

If you win 100k 14% is deducted if you have a cheap jock

86k gets paid out and 25% goes to owner or 21.5k and the balance of 64.5 k to the syndicate

Easy, you're clueless and not looking at the offer in perspective.. Both these fillies are for sale; Sentebale R40k and Trance Party R60k. That's an outlay of R100k to own outright! I have negotiated with Gavin to offer them on lease in order to make entry into racehorse ownership as affordable as possible and to reduce the financial risk involved (with owning and racing horses). Paying out 25% of stakes in order to save R100k in purchase costs sounds like a great deal to me.

The 75/25 lease split is industry standard, in fact, there are lease deals in SA that I am aware of where the split is 50/50!

As for your comparison to buying a car, that's ridiculous. A car is purchased for transport, a racehorse is purchased to compete and earn in races.

If it was up to me I would delete the rubbish you've posted here. I have put many hours into getting this deal to the table, specifically doing track workups on the horses for sale in order to find the best value options available for the syndicate.

This is a publicity excercise to promote horse racing and race horse ownership to the public. If you want to rubbish the game then there are other discussion forums where I'm sure you would be most welcome.

and when you have finished

1: are you buying a share
2: are you getting a kickback
3: are you and this deal for real?

I thought Easy was being honest and stating a fair case, not sure where in his posting he was rubbishing the game?
