Dave ,you could have brought the sanity yourself.........The variations are plentiful, but I personally wouldn't touch this particular offer with a bargepole!

Rob it was a simple yes/no considering "the complete racing experience" and the concept, I am sure we can get something cheaper but nothing with the same attention and feedback loop.
Have asked for other options, so hopefully we can kick something off?

easy...lets say you leased a horse from Jan one year to Jan the next, & you were just lucky enough to be a 4 time winner ( You have to be very lucky ) & you just end up having a crack at one of the BIGGER races - July etc..or....COMPUTERFORM SPRINT in APRIL, Believe me you would not wish to sell this horse cause your " syndicate mandate " forced you to do so.
I believe you'd rather have a crack at a group 1 race than make a sale....... that's just me............ to compete in one of these races, & even win one is mind blowing...it don't happen too often to the small time owners.

Elvis
in reality there are NO champions at every corenr and a get out clause in the long run will be better for everyone. Please eblieve me that the chances that people WANT to get out more often than stay in will be more.
AND Elvis, sadly that is the deal and if there is a deal then one gotta stick to it. Now the other option is aparently to lease a horse for no fixed period and give away 25% of your earnings. What stops the same breeder from saying "i want it back NOW!!!!"

Good to see that the thread has received some logical input. It is understandable that the fees are considered high when comparing to the 4-grand trainers. For those trainers who can race horses competitively at that price, I salute you.
It is also interesting to note that in most instances, it's the trainers with the higher fees that have both the quantity and the quality horses in their yards.. and certainly no shortage of clients! Some merit to this perhaps, because they also happen to be the same trainers that hog the top end of the log.
We've gone from 'easy' making idiotic statements about the leasing of racehorses in SA (and putting a fine advert together to further promote his special brand of ignorance), on to 'Rob' and his accusations that I have in some way dishonestly doctored the fees to make a quick buck when in fact all I tried to do was offer an opportunity to clansmen.. and not to forgot 'Harris' with his disgraceful statement, 'With these horse so close to racing Gavin would know how good they are. Trust me he would not be offering any bargains to us clansmen'..
I don't know what type of slumworld you function in Harris but what kind of a loser would knowingly offer a bad deal to new clients, what kind of a business plan is that? Don't you think before you vommit! These horses have been offered because they're showing ability and thus are most likely to provide a good deal to new entrants into horse racing ownership, is that too complicated for you?
In conclusion it would appear that what's needed to get the clan interested is a bargain basement deal; an untested, crooked-legged badly bred squib, preferably a give-away, sent to the cheapest trainer available. Good luck boys see you in the winner's enclosure.

This is what i would do as well if you have any doubt about the horses ability is to get your own independent jockey that is not affiliated at all to the stable to come out to gallop the horses. This way he can give you some honest insight into the horses ability, the same applies to having a vet come out and check the horse. Its expensive to own racehorses so why not get expert advice before parting with your money and there is nothing worse than owning a horse for the first time and then its a dog.The little concern i have about this deal is the horses offered, the first horse and i am going by the photo is very leggy and it is written that she will need ground and this is said when she is only 2yrs old.In the racing world this normally means its going to take ages for her to come to hand,or she needs ground and thats 6ft under. So having said that the leggt filly you would have to be in it for the long haul before you are going to see any return on your investment and by that time as well you might already have got sour to the game and might not invest in any further purchases

Tangles, a jockey and vet test would've been no problem there is nothing to hide and the work would speak for itself. part of the reasoning behind her 'staying' is that she is showing impressive stamina at this early stage. remember that these fillies are being monitored daily using state of the art equipment, this is not thumbsucking and sales talk. any waiting involved would be for suitable races, and not for her coming to hand. These are not the only horses available in the yard on a lease deal, I selected them as the best value for this offer. Trying to do something positive for budding race horse owners has been met with mistrust, foolish comment and baseless personal attacks from faceless cyberspace

lsetaro the last horse you put together was miss diana with a 10 percent share costing 20k and in your mail you said how she would win first time out over 1200metres.She is still a maiden and running over 2000metres.You are speaking to people on this forum who have vast experience in owning horses for decades as opposed to you who i dont believe has owners colours.I would highly trcommend that you delete your postings as you are making a fool of yourself

Tangles, you spot on there " nothing worse than 1st time owners owning a dog " ASK THE ACHIEVERS SYNDICATE. How many of these 19 youngsters are interested in " purchasing " a horse this time.................. NIL I CAN GUARANTEE YOU............ if the first experince sucks, doubt you'll do it again !

EASY......... with the few horses I've leased ... there is a clause for the owners " If it's a dog, send it back to the breeder " you are not compelled to feed it forever and a day............ should it be a " dog " a good breeder will gladly replace it ( should you be interested in still feeding / paying every month )
