imvho I think lease horses are soupmeat, many friends and I were involved with shares and even I could run faster than these horses, the most success I've had with the :orses I've leases is a 3rd place with a filly called rapara, with all due respect to gvz I think his fees are to high, we race miss d with laff and pay about 4500 exc vat,

I would LEASE under these circumstances.
1: Fixed lease period (1 year/2 years etc)
2: refer to condition 1
3: refer to condition 2
4: in that period all expenses are mine and all income is mine.

Makes more sense to send to a Gauteng trainer, at least your horse gets a stakes cheque if it runs 5th up here?

BC just for the record we only pay for 75% of Miss D
out: 1420 vet and 4933 laff = 6353

For me the best part of the deal is the GvZ stable....horses seem to reproduce their form consistently and I personally rate them right up there.

My 2cents; you can't fault the principle; but the specifics makes one wonder.....from my experience a lease depends very much on the breeder/owner, some want a % of wins, some want a % of everything - when we leased Gap Year, WIlgerbosdrift very kindly let us keep ALL the stakes... it just depends

Dave, syndication to increase the experience for many is good, but leasing should be done with a breeder who wants a filly to race, without cost, and is interested only in the eventual stud value.
How many great opportunities come knocking at your door?......................normally those that are great for the knocker!
Go looking to the stud farms .....they will be receptive, especially to the hope of new and/or future colour holders!.....thats good for their business!

With these horse so close to racing Gavin would know how good they are. Trust me he would not be offering any bargains to us clansmen. If I were stupid enough to want to buy/lease a horse I would contact Klawervlei who have plenty yearlings that one could lease. I would also send it to a trainer who does not charge R6300 a month. I would also insist the trainer charge us at cost price. The exposure given to his stable would be well worth it. I have never met the man, but from his postings on the forum I would not look past Bart Rice.
