Someone asked if the horses had been on sales.

Trance Party sold for R40k at the 2010 Cape Summer Yearling Sale.
See this link, lot 48.

See this link, lot 7.

i am aware of many farms leasing horses where they take 20 percent if and when the horses win and take nothing if the horse earns place cheques...with times being tough and there being an over supply of horses many deals can be done with breeders

Thanks Sabre for the links. For those of you who aren't aware, when a trainer purchases unraced stock and then re-sells to clients, spelling/training/stabling costs (incurred between time of original purchase and time of re-sale) are added onto the purchase price.

Paying 25% to owners on a leased horse, and the indication of training fees is very high!
This looks like a middleman taking a cut.......and Voilla there is Lsetaro and it all makes sense!

I currently have a share in a horse we are leasing the agreement we have is 80/20. The advantages of having our lease is we have taken the horse over as a 3 year old and not had to pay fees from a yearling. There are no upfront payment with regards to purchase price. If the horse does not perform we can send it back to the owner at any time. I am not sure if the terms are the same in this lease but there are advantages in leasing.

I see why the overwhelming majority of racing people (trainers and jockeys in particular) stay the hell away from forums. Far too many pipheads making baseless accusations and assumptions, and all the while hiding behind fake names to do it. Pathetic!!!

Thanks Shrek.... seems reasonable to me, payed roughly the same (percentage wise) when I had a small share in a horse...

The fun of having a forum!

Must say dissapointed with the way the thread has gone, however trying to run a syndicate can be heavy at times, so no problem.

In addition have had an email offering other horses.

I think the point being is that we lost the original concept with special attention and feedback as opposed to the norm with regards the option.

The site remains open for positive inputs on how to attract new owners?

Lats examine the argument put forward that the horses are worth R100,000 and the % return should take that into account.
The presumption is that owners should recover the sale price,as well as retaining the horse. wow, what a deal!
