Boucher was dropped because he was out of form, Smith retained in spite of his poor form....? The "choker" thing stems from our failure at selection level. In spite of his age and his party antics, I would have opened with Hersch instead of Smith. Albie Morkel should have been there, in the tail, to do the Lance Klusener thing, when necessary. Botha has already been groomed for the ODI Captaincy. The point is that we have this docile "plan" when chasing runs, of any total. As wickets fall, we retreat into a defensive gameplan, which again escalates the pressure. What we dont have, is attackers amongst our batsmen. So what if Hersch only makes 38 runs ? It would be in about19 balls and the bowlers are already on the back foot , Vettori is now trying to place his field all the time, because the pressure is on them and not on us. Kallis is a slow starter. When he comes in, after Hersch's onslaught, he has a buffer , in terms of time to get his eye in. At the end, Albe would come in and finish. Yesterday, we were always under pressure at the end, because of our docile plan at the start and the loss of some wickets. The tailenders were faced with a very difficult task, them not being real attacking batsmen. CHOKE the SELECTORS !!!

Well this has been debated to death, but I thought I can also contribute; imo there has been errors made both in selection and execution; Boucher would perhaps have made a difference, but the big issue with selection was the dreadful 'quota thing'; how Wayne Parnell could have been selected and Albie Morkel left at home defies any logic imo. Having selected Van Wyk, he should have opened; can't agree on Gibbs though; clearly past his best imo.
In execution, Smith never came to the party in any of the games and again went out playing a silly shot when we needed him most yesterday; at least Ponting came through when the Aussies really needed him (their problem being the lack of even one quality spinner imo); Amla really unlucky when looking to give us the start we needed; Kallis lost his head when he shouldn't have and the silly run out of De Villiers was the last straw.
One positive that we can take out of this imo are that we now have a well balanced bowling attack; but there has to be serious questions regarding our batsmen and their temparements; not sure how we can solve that one.

Greg that will never ever not be mentioned especially when England play. In fact some are offering prices in which minute of todays match v Wales 1966 will be mentioned. I have gone for the 4th minute.
