Wind at your back 40/1 Kotze/Cheyne
Elegant Bay 66/1 Kotze/ Cheyne
the only 2 for the trainer and the owner for the day...Around 2800/1
Meticulously planned and executed...well played...some bookies are hurting right now...

For the sake of sa horse racing the specimens from both horses should be sent to america and the uk to get checked out for doping in case our people cannot pick up if there was illegal substances in the horses blood. The only explaination I can think of is doping and a damn good one at that too.

ELEGANT BAY once had a merit rating of 79, it ran off a 66 today.
WIND AT YOUR BACK once had a merit rating of 77, it ran off a 60 today.
Is it possible or allowed for trainers to deliberately reduce the merit ratings of their horses to disguise a horses true ability to greatly improve the trainers chances of their runners in future races when the odds and opportunities look better? I'm not a trainer, just an interested observer.

Didn't Elegant Bay win back to back races this time last year of a higher mark?
Let's not start accusing people of any wrong doing, they may have been running it not on it's merits since then. Many a trainer will tweak the system, doesn't mean they are dopers.

Seems quite common for a few mediocre runs to be had to make horse "competitive" again...I'm sure I've seen allusions to this in attempt to deal with the handicapping system where horses are quick to go up in ratings but slow to come down in ratings...minefield for punters to navigate but those in the know get the price and punters money down the gutter for exotics, etc...

Sure i should not be accusing anyone of wrong doing until we have got some proof and i hope the NHRA look into the matter properly.

1) Both horses ran exactly 16 days ago
2) Both trained by Kotze
3( Both ridden by Cheyne
4) Both having the same owner
5) Cheyne is NOT a regular jock at Kimberley
6) Cheyne only had these 2 rides for the day
7) Kotze only had these 2 runners for the day
Both runners was backed in as if the cannot loose
Well done to them pulling off what was clearly a masterpiece of a betting coup,
That does not mean that it is utterly WRONG though.... And extremely unfair to allow these things to happen and CERTAINLY devastating to the industry in the long run...trust is earned...this kind of thing is not good for the industry doesn't matter how you look at it.
