Funniest thing is i did imagine brigtnumberten and wellspring fighting out the finish -- just never thought he would be fighting one of them without the jockey :)

Well done to the winners - glad to say that although 2 of my 4 'tips' ran unplaced, the BP and PA helped me to a small profit on the day ..... just regarding Wellspring, clearly the runs two days apart took it out of him, especially after the helter skelter effort on Saturday.

And although only winning a 59 handicap, I thought Pilgrim's Progress was very impressive with a big weight coming from far back - the van Zyl stable up here in Gauteng certainly back with a bang after their winter 'break'

Indeed he ran a cracker that day, well above my expectations - and it's very rare for a horse to come out and repeat such a performance a week later, never mind a few days later :)

Just finished updating my winning times database - maiden winning times were really slow today, so really not the best quality of fields came out.

I actually thought that a false start would have been declared, one of the gates appeared to open before the rest/balance, could have been the horse where the jockey fell off.

I think this is the confusion that Jurgs may be referring too and why Khumalo may have been hesitant, thinking a false start was going to be declared. I am not certain of this but it appeared that way to me.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
