Not sure how many times De Kock has to say in interviews that Hawwaam is staying in Gauteng before people believe him.

I haven't caught those interviews - and I suppose if I did not, quite a few others would have missed those as well - why does he then not take him out of the Met - if he is so sure about it ?
Not that I think he would have chance - but already some people on here admitted to taking an ante-post stab - so why the cloak and dagger ?

Well said Frodo the intention of my post was to imply that MDK would be in the best position to possibly beat the fav.
Before i posted i also had a look a Charl and MDK sites and the comments could be there ? But did not read them or remember a press release.
Plus if they remain in bookies betting and they still do after possibly not so convincing victory?
It would be nice if a confirmation could be given.
Good punting

Regarding the betting - I think plenty of value especially on the places, even if one assumes that Do It Again and Rainbow Bridge will fight it out ..... Buffalo Bill Cody (7/1) at best would have an interrupted prep on top of stamina doubts; Oh Susanna (8/1) can start today ; Hawwaam (16/1) doubtful
; Legal Eagle (18/1) really doubtful imo and anyway had his chances in the last few years; so the big value imo lies with Head Honcho (20/1) - ran to around 117 last time and should be competitive for the places at least - very happy to have secured an Ante-Post place bet on him a few weeks ago ....

Hi Frodo, any idea of the maximum weight Hawwaam would carry if he takes his place in the Sun Met?
Well the race is run at WFA (and last year Oh Susanna came in at 51.5 kg - also getting a 2.5 kg Sex Allowance) so as I see it, depending whether the top weight is 59,5 (if a 4yr old) or 60 kgs (if a 5 yr old) - I don't see anything in the conditions that top weight HAS to be 60 (but probably likely) - it would mean that Hawwaam (in the unlikely event that he runs) would be carrying 53,5 or 54 kgs

I remember Frankel remaining in the nominations for the Arc and the bookies still priced him.

i agree hawaam could of been a massive runner in Met. De Kock did say his staying in jhb for the triple crown. He should scratch hawaam from met so that punters dont blow there money in cold blood. Its a professional thing to do.

Who knows, one or more of the early favs. For the Met could be an early scratching ( if horse goes wrong - happened to BBC last weekend ) perhaps Mdk changes his mind, sees easy pickings & thats why hes left Hawaam in ?
