SUN MET : DO IT AGAIN??
6 years 5 months ago
After yesterdays QP it would appear that the general consensus between the turf accountants is that DO IT AGAIN will in fact live up to its name. (15/10 ish)
RAINBOW BRIDGE ( although running on, never really caught the eye but the extra should suit (7/2 ish)
OH SUSANNA : Superb run from the front but cant imagine the same tatics could work in the MET. ( 13/2 ish).
IMVHO the result will depend on the MDK TEAM .
I read the comments regarding BBCody in SP and with the exception of some naive remarks on ante post betting, I was under the impression that they rate BBC higher than SOQRAT (considering the super run) I am sure they feel BBC ( MET 13/2 ish) could have won.
If we also add HAWWAAM (16/1 ish) I am sure MDK has the answer to the equation of will it be DO IT AGAIN?
Your inputs and thoughts appreciated
Good Punting

I would really like to see Hawaam in the SunMet! In my opinion, the best of the De Kock team. I also think Front and Centre could have been an interesting inclusion if you take a line through Second Request. She is lightly race and could get the trip (Naturally a slow run race) being out of Alignment and Dynasty.

Jockey Fourie said he can't see anything beating Do It Again for the Met. Who knows?

My own stupid logic.
If Hawwaam takes his place in the Sun Met, he will go extremely close. I think Soqrat was the tester to see how he "stands up" against the top horses over a distance which is his optimum, 1600m. Conversely, Hawwaam could be a lot better than rated over a distance he'd be looking for, +1600m.
I think the De Kock stable has deliberately kept these horses apart, and i read somewhere that the plan for Hawwaam was the Sun Met and then to go overseas.
The big concern for Hawwaam is that the Sun Met could come too soon, however, nothing ventured is nothing gained.
Here's a certainty, if he takes his place in the Sun Met, he will start a lot shorter than the current odds of 16/1.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Agree 100% with you! I have had a small bet at those odds!

Hawwaam - although very impressive in the DIngaans - has not faced the class that Soqrat did - not being privy to stable info, on form Soqrat rates head and shoulders above H ; for the MET, I can't see Do It Again losing

Hi Frodo, any idea of the maximum weight Hawwaam would carry if he takes his place in the Sun Met?

Latest Betting has Do It Again 16/10 and Hawwaam 16/1
I still have a feeling if Hawwam goes to Cape Town he will be supplemented for the Derby
Sure MDK done it with Ertijal

Rainbow bridge should not be paraded and go straight to the start in his next run
Undercover agent jockey needs to be more patient next time.

Crowd will be huge compared to yesterday`s, not sure it would make much difference
