You must be of the same opinion if you posted this...was 1 of the trainers Gordon...how can Clairwood not be fairest track with its longer and flatter straight.

I have many childhood memories there. Dad and grand-dad used to leave me in the childrens section all day with a purple R5 note. Enough to keep me entertained with the video games and a pork banger role and bottled coke all day. I was always the only winner when it was home time, I would win the colour in competitions and get a lucky packet which I'd share with dad and grand-dad on the way back home.

Hopefully I can give my children this kind of memories to talk about someday -

Farewell Clairwood, the course may go, but the memories you gave us will be taken to our graves.

Thanks Bro - I remember a day when I DIDNT go to the kiddies section, and I stayed with my old man watching the horses. I'll never forget the 1st live race I ever saw, and the rest remains history. It was a weekday - Dad and I went to Clairwood. He had a pink ticket (cardboard like), handwritten - MONEY TRAIN... He was standing to win R5k on it. A horse called Simon James came and pipped him by a whisker. I think the Guvnor rode Simon James... Anyone else remember this? (:P)

One of my favourite moments at Clairwood...Johnny McReady winning 4 races. I seem to recall they were all greys', Trocadero being one of them, all at odds of 7/1 or better...and my dad telling me not to pick the horse because of the colour, or the jock...I was seven years old and it was one of the last meetings before the 18 year old age restriction was introduced ( the reason he took me)...it was also my first race meeting that I attended.

watching this racing at dville unfortunately many times the best horse is not winning cos of the track and many excuses will be forthcoming and i cant help thinking when we have the inner track at greyville what that will be like ....the computaform will grow tired of saying BAUKLED UNLUCKY....racing at these greyhound tracks is like playing a five over cricket match nevermind 20 overs it brings the shit in with a better chance of succeeding
