To learn from 'poor past mistakes', one first has to acknowledge that mistakes were made; unfortunately (as far as I know) no one involved with the sale of Newmarket has come forward and admiitted ' this was a mistake - let's not repeat it in the future' - 'they' were too busy pushing the 'advantages' of having night racing at Turffontein.
But yes, in the case og GC - let's hope they will indeed 'invest wisely in racing's future'

The Vaal has to be the worst place to race in SA..its far, the tracks are poor, the facilities are poor and the racing is weak...they stick it out because to recreate that poor facility would cost Billions in and around Jhb..the guys that run racing just go about doing their jobs 9am to 5pm..who can blame them for not caring..its the directors that control the RA Trust money shareholding in racing that need to answer the questions as regards tracks..imo GC are just following the lead set up in Jhb..selling off the better track..surely to goodness Scottsville should go..trainers hate it and it is not good for horses legs

to follow that up why a year ago was there such an uproar with regards to the small fields at durbanville and the draws had to be done after trainers accepted and still to this day trainers scratch if they get a bad draw even if they get a 12 day suspension?

Lets just hope the proceeds of the sale are positively invested..................most previous sales have left a long term negative result.

HH at any course around the turn you would be happier and more likely to win with the better draw. Why would you want to race from a wide draw if you thought you had a big chance? If by any chance your horse really needed the run, then you would not care. Look at the race I am in on Wed. The horses drawn 1-6 were all drawn in the 1st 10 of 92 nominations. 1st 8 drawn in the 1st 21/92.

@ Harry H, when I last looked I had a nose between my eyes, you probably meant ears & I can understand your error if you're perhaps a mate of Pirates or the man himself !!!!!!!
