Would I be allowed to use my (now rested) baseball bat on craniums now and again?

Would this be an exclusive club open to only those who have a certain number of posts, or punt a certain minimum amount, or are involved as a trainer, owner, jockey, stable hand, etc?

I am no expert, but find much value in this site. Good to compare the reasoning - win or lose

Sure nobody ever cares about what most of the posters think anyway, unless substantiated by an opinion or information

I would also like to join. I like the idea of real names. I would probably not know 90% of the members

Bob surely all that will happen is that some will cut and paste from private to open forum? I think you have to be all of one or the other.

Using real names on the forum is an absolute non-starter for me. I've said why before and I am not going through it again, I do enough jottings on this forum anyway lol (:P) I have absolutely no problem telling Bob who I am (and he knows) and a few individuals on here but that's it. Why do you need to know who someone is anyway? You aren't going to know me from Davie Cameroon or Jakob Doomer anyway. Does it make a difference if I call you an idiot or if a trainer/owner/bookie or whatever does? You think that if you know someone is the head of Tabgold that it makes a huge difference, does their opinion suddenly become more important than A N Other clanner? In some ways it obviously does but generally, I hope not. And if you knew they were head of Tabgold, would it not simply open the door to more arguments etc. What we need is those people coming on here and in a very open way discussing issues and explaining certain matters.Similar to the way, albeit in a slightly different context, the way Dev "represents" Hollywood here and imvho I think he has been brilliant.

Bob... what type of thing are you expecting private clanners to discuss in the "Red Room" lol that they would not discuss on the open forum? What we want imo is more people contributing... or do we think some of these people would contribute more if it was behind those shady curtains?? lol I'm with Frodo I think...

Most instances of incompetence ,animal abuse, corruption etc are posted by ppl employed
in the industry or those that make a living from it ,insist on names and everything gets buried again and
thats what the operators want

Employers really might be a problem. One is always being warned not to be too outspoken on social media.

In fact, just this morning I got an email from my employer (general email not directed at me personally) to that effect. Of course it was ever so diplomatically phrased, not like that! But I don't want to spend six pages wittering on and boring everyone. It was basically a threat, that anything said that they don't like could land you in deep smelly stuff, and saying it was private and done in your own time would be no defense.

The forum ,in its present form is 90% tipping and social stuff-there is a more serious side to the industry which ,even discussion gets no responses-that is fine but many who have raced for years are concerned with aspects and would like to see the bar raised in certain areas.
The establishment have used the excuse of anonymity to refuse to interact.
I do not see that this area is " instead of" merely "in addition to".
Trying to understand any objections ....... I am sure participation won't be compulsory -if you wan't to stay anonymous, just continue as normal.
I know of a few people in the industry who will be tempted on -they have expressed there refusal to interact with pseudonyms.

Rob, I'm happy to carry on as is and for there to be a separate shady room which I would take no part in under the proposal to use real names ;) but the danger is, I would possibly always wonder what is being discussed there and you may get an us/them situation.

What I really want to ask though, and perhaps Craig can answer as well as he made similar comments, relates to your para above... why? what difference does it make?

I battle to understand why people behind masks can feel uncomfortable about an area that is fully transparent and the only restriction to participation is to show your face.
